I got this awesome antique pendant from Sako a few months ago. I am obsessed with it! I keep thinking I want to have it made into a ring though so I can see it. Is it too big though? I am pretty casual- jeans and tshirt girl. Sako has made these pieces into wonderful rings. What do yall think? 20210602_173657.jpg

I think the patina lends itself to casual wear just as well as dressy.

it’s gorgeous!

It looks very nice as a ring. I have seen them that way. I would do the ring if you aren't wearing the pendant. I don't think it's too large.

That's the bad thing here! I wear it a lot as a pendant. I really want both lol! I may check and see if he has any more. I am gonna go broke!

I have earrings from the same set that are pending to be made.

I think it was such a good batch of components! If he has one, it may be worth grabbing. They are hard to find that are nice in that condition!

A ring, absolutely yes!

Actually thought it was already a ring at first glance. Fabulous piece.

I thought it was already a ring, too (scrolled to the photo first before I started reading), and instantly wanted to shout "no, don't turn it into anything else!" It looks fabulous on your finger and just the right amount of coverage, so I think if you're comfortable with rings of this size, you should totally go for converting. And I can definitely see it pairing up well with casual wear, because of the cool patina and old cuts. I was just reflecting a lot recently myself that as much as I love my pendants, rings are just so extra gratifying since I can see them all the time.

I second that matching earrings would be so fabulous. I can picture a smaller drop version of this for the ears?

I’m a fan of seeing my favorite pieces on the hand so I voted ring.
I think you can always convert it back if you find you don’t wear it as much.
Beautiful piece!

Not too big as a ring and if you love being able to see it all the time, that's the ticket!

Personally, I would make the decision based how likely I would wear a pendant or a ring.

For me, it looks great as a ring as I like big bold rings - delicate and petite jewellery do not do much for me due to my frame/size and personality.

It may be too small as a pendant for me.

However, personal preferences and all that.

Thanks for sharing though as it is lovely. :kiss2:

So I decided to have both. Thus the pre-loved items I posted yesterday!

I know it has been suggested to do a ringdant but I really want Sako to make this for me. He has done a ring before with one of these components and it is impeccable and completely true to the period. He charges significantly more if the design is altered. I'm not sure I am comfortable with a ring that comes apart either lol. Sako had one last component piece and it's smaller than the one I have. The center is 1 carat and halo adds another carat. I think it will be perfect for a ring and not so large that I am self conscious. And I will get to keep my pendant as well.

@elizat , I cannot wait to see your earrings. Are they dangles? I have searched the internet high and low looking at similar omc cluster pieces. They are all much more expensive than Sako's. I am so happy that I will have 2 pieces!!!

And the wait begins...

I thought there was just one left! Glad you were able to get it!

My components are the middle size, so I think the same size as your pendant.

The tops will be omcs I have I in a ring now. They are each about .9 to .94, I think?

My plan is to have the omc as the top drop with the component as a stationary drop. I contemplated dangles that move, but thought these may be a little more wearable?

I have a pair of earrings that are similar components with rubies in them that are fully articulated, on wires, so I thought this might be better to do it a little bit different.

I was thinking like the attached probably.

Also, for what it is worth, I would not want to have a convertible ring / pendant with that type of piece either. The ring that he has made that I saw from the components was so well done and very true to period that I can understand why you would want to keep it as that.

I'm not a huge fan of the convertible ring/pendant. I much prefer the convertible brooch/pendant. The convertible ring idea just has never really resonated with me.

Oh those are going to be stunning!!!!! Has he started yet?

I saw the ruby ones on ig. Fabulous!! Wow, you are going to have 2 awesome sets of cluster earrings.

Here is a pic of the last 3 components he had. The largest is my pendant and the smallest will be my ring. The smallest is 15mm wide so still substantial. It's the one on Sakos index finger which is a size 10. There is a pic of the one he made for someone else. And the last pic is a 15mm piece on my finger (the same size as the new ring will be). I definitely think it's large enough. I'm so excited!
