Pencil making, fascinating ... well, to me

They had a 'How it's made' program that covered making pencils - I never knew it was so complicated!

Hey Kenny!
I have some pencils from that company!

I love old fashioned pencils.
I still do what I learned in art class.
I use a knife to sharpen them (actually just cut away some wood) then use sandpaper to shape the tip.

It takes longer and it isn't as perfect as using a pencil sharpener.

I also only use baking soda to clean the sinks and bath tile.
It takes longer and doesn't work as well as those expensive, stinky, chemical bombs.
I do it because it doesn't send zillions of microscopic balls of plastic that make their way into those floating ocean gyres that choke and kill marine life.

Wow!
That's really cool.
I had no idea people did this.
Thanks for sharing.

I forwarded it to a friend who has a lathe.
He 'turns' wood into amazing objects.

I too find it fascinating.
I find how pretty much anything is made fascinating.
Even more so the machines that are used to make them.

I love How its Made. Always watched, because to me, manufacturing no matter what it is, is a fascinating process.

Ok the other half likes to roll his eyes, but even he didn't know how complicated even clothes pins were, or even erasers. And or course when they rolled out the Dream Car series...that was cool on a whole other level!:appl:
