Hi everyone, still working on my remodel and have decided that I would like go with a three stone style (example below). At the moment I have a 1ct E VVS2 princess that I would like to set with pears. Can anyone give me some hints on what to look for in terms of what size would compliment the 1ct stone and other specs like what sort of clarity and colour can I choose or should I try to keep them similar to the princess.

I have been doing a lot of searching on pears sizes but am getting confused because pears that are, for example, .33ct each can have different lengths (I know there must be an obvious answer but it''s not one I know!!) My princess is 5.54 x 5.49 so I thought a pear about this length should look good.

What do you guys think?? Any thoughts appreciated!!

(Oh, if anyone has any good ideas about what style of bands (split bands?) would look good with suggestions would be helpful. I do have 24 = 0.72ct total princesses from my current bands to play with)

May be 4 slightly different pictures will help you decide Victoria.
I kept princess the same in all as well as pear''s width. What is changing from left to the right is length of the pears.

Wow, that diagram by the moderators is quite helpful - the 3rd one looks the most eyepleasing to me!

I have a radiant with pear sapphire sides, so my ring looks somewhat similar to what you want. I have a 6 mm wide radiant and my pear sides are also each 6 mm long, and I think it looks in proportion. So if you went with pears around 5.5 mm long, your ring should look good.

Thanks for the responses! PS Admin - those pics are great, thanks for the effort, that definately puts things into perspective!! Pear length the same as the princess width looks best. You have definately given me direction as I would been unlikely to have seen the difference in real life.

Coda72 - thanks for your input, your suggestion definately supports the pics...

Anyone have any ideas about colour, clarity etc?

Thanks, Vic.

If you are using an E, VVS2 center stone, I would keep the color of the pear sides within one or two color grades. I probably wouldn''t go below G for color. Clarity you have more leeway. You could drop down to SI clarity, and as long as the pears are eyeclean, you should be fine.

Definitely stick within 2 color grades for the sides. G would be the lowest I''d go. Clarity...eye clean SI1 or SI2....no need to go so strict if you still can''t see the inclusions!
