Dear All,

I would like some suitable recommendations on a vendor for:

- purchasing a pear shaped diamond
- Having it set in a white gold ring with halo (channel set not shared prong)

Similar to this:

If I could find a vendor who could do both that would be great.

I also did have a look at the guide for choosing a pear shaped stone: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/fnc3.asp

It says that Polish/Symmetry is not a factor in determining a pear shaped stone? Really? Your expertise on this would be great.

I''m also in Australia. So if I cannot find a suitable vendor I''ll probably get the ring made here.

Thanks in advance people!

I guess this means nobody has any referrals or advice re: pear diamonds?

I''ve done some research, the bow tie concerns me and I''m hoping that someone will share their experiences of buying without actually seeing the stone!

Thanks

I'm not an expert at all but thought I'd chime in since I bought 3 pears on-line.

I've read that for a fancy cut, it's better to see it in person, though I realise you can't do that since you're in Australia. The second best thing to do is to ask your vendor. Any of the PS vendors, I should think, would be able to help you. They can also take pictures of the stones as wells other things like Idealscope images etc. They should also be able to do the setting for you too. Just email them and enquire.

I bought mine from James Allen and they were quite honest with me. I was told that my larger pear has a very very slight bow-tie, that was true.

I'm sure WF can help you also.

BGD has been a very popular vendor here since they launched and I'm a BIG fan of theirs. Not sure if they do fancy cuts but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thank you Phoenix!

I have emailed Bob @ Whiteflash. I did see the had a similar replicated one but I thought the halo stones were too big in comparison to the center pear stone. Just after something a little more delicate.

I have purchased earrings and a solitaire necklace from WF before and the quality of workmanship is great!

Just have not found any other Pear Halos from WF as of yet..

:-)

Hi Liz!

Here are some vendors you can try.

As for a bow tie this is why it is so important to work with a trusted vendor who can inspect the diamond and advise you, it isn''t always possible to do away with a bow tie altogether but it can be possible to minimize them. Tell the vendor you work with you don''t want a prominent bow tie so they understand what you are looking for.
