Hopefully someone can help me out. I am looking for a pear shape diamond for my g/f and I think I''ve found a good one, but I''m no expert. Any advice would be much appreciated. Here are the specs.

GIA Certified (Laser inscripted)
1.77 G / SI2
10.34 x 6.83 x 4.25
Depth: 62.2%
Table: 56%
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick, faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Very good
Symmetry: Very good
Flourescence: None
Crown height: 15.8%
Pavillion: 42.8%

Price is $8,900

Is this a nice stone? Is the price good? Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

It looks - to me at least, and on paper - like a very nice diamond. I like the 1:1.5 ratio and the girdle thickness; the depth and table are reasonable too.

There aren''t many pears around in that size, so it''s difficult to do a comparison to say if you got a deal on the price. The price looks fair.

Do you know if it''s eye-clean?

What kind of ring setting are you thinking of? (I''m just being nosey now

Hi diamondnovice,
Welcome to Pricescope! On www.gemappraisers.com your pear''s cut quality is graded as 1A on the DIy cut calculator, which is the highest on it''s cut grade scale. I did a search for your pear for other G SI2''s in your size range (which I suggest you do as wel)l and came up with this

culet flour.

I got lazy hope you can read these

DN, looks like a nice pear. Have you looked at pears in person to get an idea of the l/w ratio that is most appealing to your eye? The 1:1.51 ratio of his one is very nice -- more on the fat side. Kittykat is right, the cut is very good. SI2 clarity can sometimes be tricky, but in my personal opinion, I would have no hesitation if the vendor could eyeball it for you or you could see the stone in person. The price is not totally out of line, but I think it may be on the higher side. Is this stone at a B&M or on line?

Thank you all for your help. I have seen a few pears in person and I like the 1:1.5 to 1:1.6 length to width the best.
This stone is from an internet vendor so I haven''t seen it yet but was told that it is eye clean.
Not sure if the $8,900 price tag is on the high side or not. According to Kitty Kat''s comparison of other similar diamonds (thank you by the way),
I think this one is not too bad of a price.

Also, thinking of putting it in a eternity band setting with round diamonds in the band.

Is that the vendor''s final price, or will they offer a reduction for wire transfer or something? Are they a Pricescope vendor? You can often get a bit of a discount by saying you are a PS member (but this doesn''t apply to, say, Blue Nile).

I think this stone will be stunning and the channel set ring sounds absolutely beautiful. Other members have posted pics of pears in eternity band settings and it is a very pretty combo.
