Hello all,

My name is andrew and i have been reading these forums for quite sometime now and am looking to propose in the spring of next year. The girl I am proposing to doesnt really know much about diamonds and rings in general, not really a golddigger...yet. Anyways, she is 4''1'''' and 111 lbs and very cute

.

The first question I have at this point is because she is so small, will a .75 carat look relatively large? She is a size 6. The ring i want is the Vatche Swan Pave ( http://revver.com/video/455428/the-vatche-swan-setting/ ).

The second question is, does the pave diminish the center stone? or even the six prongs of the swan?

thanks! hope this finds all of you well.

Hi Andrew, welcome to Pricescope.

Wink of Winfields showed us the ring and the diamonds are a beautiful accent; I don't think it would be overpowering. Here is his website, I bet he could tell you better if you called or sent him an email http://www.winkjones.com/ or if you click here http://vyou.pricescope.com/player.aspx there is a presentation about the swan ring. A. 75 carat is a very nice size diamond!!!

Andrew, I was just watching the info and the side stones are 2 pts each.

Size 6 is rather an average size finger, so her fingers are not unusual in width, but I think 0.75 ct will look wonderful and proportionate given her overall frame size. For reference, I thought that size looked decent on me and I am 5'10" and wear a 6.5 ring. I recieved a 1.1 ct and was shocked at the size for some time but have now adjusted nicely

, but on smaller ladies a 3/4 ct looks like a healthy size even after the adjustment period. I am guessing that her fingers will not be particularly long, so you might want to avoid a super-wide setting, but the Swan pave looks lovely. The 6 prongs and the pave compliment the setting well. Nice choice and good luck!

I think it''s a great size! I''m also petite with a size 6 finger and have a .60 ct diamond. The pave is a personal choice; there''s no wrong answer.

Congratulations on starting the process!

thanks you guys for the encouraging remarks...

it is exciting to get to talk to people and not feel so conscious, you all are a big help.

her fingers are actually pretty long, her hands are as big as mine but they are very skinny finger. I am 5''10'''' and she has a comparable hand size. if that makes any difference in perception of size.

thanks again.

thanks Skippy, you have been very helpful and it is always fun to read your remarks!

Skippy,

Thank you for your kind words and for your reference to the video here on Pricescope. I did see the video that Jon put up and I sure like the snappy beat that he uses for accompaniment to the video.

I fell in love with the Swan when Wink gave his presentation. What a beautiful choice! I''m sure she will love it and .75 is a nice size. Good luck!
