I''m having a e ring custom made with a pave set band and halo. The ring is going to be made with palladium which I understand is sturdier than platinum. Does anyone know or have experience with pave set in palladium? I''m wondering if the pave might be more secure since the metal isn''t malliable like platinum is. I read somewhere that white gold is better for pave than platinum for that reason but I don''t want to deal with the hastle of having to upkeep the rhodium plating.

Palladium is still a fairly malleable metal. However, both platinum and palladium are fine for pave and I have rings in both that have pave components and I haven''t had any problems with either. WG is hard, but more brittle. A platinum prong will bend, but a WG prong might break.

Have you had any problems with the pave stones falling out? I love this look but am so afraid it''s not practical for everyday wear. If I take my rings off to sleep, wash hands, dishes, work (I''m a nurse) do you think I''ll be OK? The jeweler will replace stones free for a year after purchase on this custom design.

stone''s can fall out of a pave setting no matter what type of metal is used. I have a 3-sided pave ring and I do baby it. It''s not pratical if you''re hard on your rings and it sounds like you''re not but do be aware that an occasional lose of stone can happen. that''s wonderful that the jeweler will replace stones for a year.

ditto, no matter what type of metal you will loose a stone every now and then. However, focus on getting a setting that is very well crafted. This makes a heck of a difference as far as stones falling out goes.
