i have a quick question for you pave owners...

how often do you bring in your pieces for "check ups" like checking prongs, checking the stones, and a good cleaning? and i have one more question, what is considered normal wear and tear for a pave ring?

the reason i asked is because the other day a friend who recently got engaged called me and said that when she tapped her ring she heard a clinking, from what i know this is a sign of loose pave, from normal wear and tear...right? well when i checkd my ring (which ive had for 3 years, and get it checked and cleaned maybe once a year) i heard a clinking too...so im sending mine in tomorrow too get everything checked and cleaned.

so i was just wondering if this clinking sound from the pave is a sign of daily wear?

Pave should be checked more often then other styles because of the amount of prong work and smaller melee size of the stones.I always recommend never sleeping, showering or doing heavy work with a pave style ring on.Also sweaters, knit gloves and blankets can be a threat to prong work.

I had a stone fall out of my pave WB after 2 months of wear.

I was not pleased, and sent both of my rings in to be checked. I''d been wearing my ering for a year with no issues.

I get mine checked twice a year. I only wear it out after losing 2 and crushing another doing house work. It comes off when I get home and it does not get put back on until I walk out the door for the day. For people that are recently engaged or recently married with new pave this may be hard. It was for me and I wore it 24/7. Even while cleaning the toilet. Now that some of the novelty has worn off I am ok not wearing it all the time. It also helps keep it clean too.

I dont understand what you mean about a tinking noise. Are you talking about tapping it with your finger?

radiant: yea when i put it up to my ear ( i know if someone saw me doing this they would think im crazy) and i tap it lightly with the tip of my finger i hear a clinking noise coming from the setting like something is loose...probably the pave cause my asscher is set in a bezel so i know thats not going anywhere...

but my DH is bringing in my ring to our jeweler tomorrow morning to get it checked and cleaned and sized!
