Why is it that functionally normal people turn into complete idiots when traversing a crowded parking lot? Do the same 'rules of the road' apply? Is is okay to stalk someone in hopes of getting their parking space. Is the 'stay right' rule still in effect?

I've just about accepted that I must be functioning under a misunderstanding of complex guidances in play here.

I'm with you.
I've given up on parking lots.
I usually do not even enter them.
I try to park on the street and get a little exercise walking to the store.
I started doing this to save the gas I used to waste circling around lots waiting for bozos.

If I have to enter a lot I make a beeline for the corner furthest from the store.
Pisses my SO off.

Uppy, you live in my neck of the woods, right? So you're familiar with the extreme lengths that people go to in Chicago in order to reserve parking spots that they've cleared out for themselves in the winter time? I've seen men get into fist fights when a guy pulled into a cleared out space that was being reserved with a folding chair while the guy who cleared it out was at work. At least during the winter, Chicagoans are very serious about their parking spot etiquette. If you use a spot that someone else cleared, you are in for it!

I was just thinking something very similar. Except with GROCERY CARTS!
I just got home from a quick trip to the grocery store. I am amazed at how many people just STOP with their carts and all in the middle of the aisle so no one can pass. Rude! I ALWAYS pull my cart off to the side so I don't block the traffic.
