I haven't seen any talk on Pricescope yet about the Pantone color of the year for 2015 called Marsala.

Any thoughts?

Flattering, wearable color. I have Marsala nail polish on now :). For gemstones though, I would do a purer red to complement the Marsala clothes.

It's not for me.

DK :))

Could work nice on others.
As it does not match very well with my skintone and color preferences it's not for me however.

:knockout: Not for me, but here's what it looks like in case anyone else wants to see it.

I kind of like it. Not for gems though.

There's been some talk here and there on PS in various places, but I don't think I've personally seen a devoted thread for it.

I really dislike it, myself. But as we all know, color is a personal choice ;)

HI:

Looks very drinkable!

cheers--Sharon

Mine either. Its very close to my own skintone so could pretty much blend in. Speaking of, I have a shirt that freaks people out because from a decent distance it looks like I'm not wearing one

I was thinking it might make a nice gravy or roux. Why does Pantone (whoever they are) think they have to "discover" colors? We have always had all colors available to us. If I were cooking I could change the color of that sauce any which way. (I'm already thinking of it as a sauce.) I could add more red or more blue or make it lighter or darker...the possibilities are endless. And on top of that, I could change its flavor; its scent; its texture; and its temperature!

Put it this way: I doubt there will be a run on gemstones that color any time soon. :wink2:

I agree.

I do like one of the other 2015 colors, though: Strawberry Ice.....and i'm not a pink person!~

Ooh, Mozo, where can we see it? That sounds great.

I would love to know who decides on "the color of the year" anyway. I think its such a funny concept for some reason.

Not a tempting colour to ingest, I look terrible in that colour (in clothes) and definitely not a gem colour for me.

I think it is a brick red. With the usual disclaimer: on my monitor.

It looks too brown for my liking.

+2.

I think my boots are close to the brick red color that I think Marsala is...

In a dress I love this color paired with nude shoes or boots.

I always love that color paired with a pale pink. I used the two colors together when having a bridal shower cake made for my niece last Spring. Her favorite color is pink. I am unsure whether the color will show to distinction on the computer, however!

PS-This is not my niece's cake. This is a baby shower cake I used as a model for it! I do not like the color of the baby shoes on top of the cake. I like more orange in the pink, rendering some coral in it.

Who decides this? Do they play pin the tail on the Pantone chart?

My thoughts? Meh. Great for makeup, terrible for jewelry.

So you would like Sherwin Williams color of 2015 then.

That would be a fabulous lip liner.

ETA: I'm noticing a very 90's color theme here. I think I had wallpaper in my house that had strawberry ice flowers on it when I was in high school.

Of course it makes sense, but I didn't realize that there were competing colors of the year - one by Pantone, one by Sherwin Williams! I could go for either Sherwin Williams Coral or the Strawberry Ice by Pantone, but not the Marsala.

I'll have a chicken tikka masala please - but hold the marsala coloured gemstones - thank you!

Mmmmm, what a difference an "R" makes!

Looks nice as clothing and make-up color, If as a gem it is sparkly and not expensive I might like it.
