I know there are several threads about palladium vs gold vs platinum, but I still can''t find any pics of "aged" palladium.
My boyfriend inquired about my opinion of palladium as the jeweler told him about it this weekend. With platinum at almost $2000, gold at almost $900, and palladium around $450 I can''t help but think many people will start using palladium.
In my mind I wanted platinum over white gold for durability issues and also since I don''t mind the patina but am bothered by yellowing gold.
I have seen palladium (a co-worker has a palladium wedding band) and how it scuffs up on the outside, but stays shiny on the inside (like platinum), but have yet to feel it.....I know perhaps the biggest difference is the weight with platinum being heavier. It should be very similar in weight to white gold though right? Also, since the ring I''m getting is fairly substantial (very similar to this setting http://www.jamesallen.com/products/item_60-2401_build.asp?module=setting) I wonder if platinum might be too heavy; especially when combined with a w-band. I tried on the stock ring in white gold and the weight was fine.
Sorry for the long rant, but basically I''m just getting at the fact that we will probably get palladium because I can''t find any disadvantages and at nearly 1/4 the price of platinum and 1/2 the price of gold it makes the decision that much easier. I am hoping others can chime in and post pics.
