I am looking for a pair of higher color old style cushions(DEF) and need square-ish. 1/2 carat or so. I found a pair at GOG that I am leaning toward but they are a little ovalish and I am worried that they wont work. My plan is to have a pair of earrings made that add these to my existing cusions which are square-ish. Any other thoughts? Attached is a pic of my earrings.

Okay so my update is that I am buying the GOG August Vintage Cushions and I need some setting ideas for earrings. I am looking for simple platinum possibly with a colored stone as an accent.

I love your earrings! Can't wait to see how you set the AVC's. I would love a pair of those as earrings!

Thanks! If the shape works I will have them re done as double cushions with the small diamond at the bottom OR have the AVCs as a separate pair of earrings with a colored stone as an accent...

Oh gosh, I adore those earrings!!!!   I would not alter those....make a second pair with the AVC's!!! I will be saving this picture for inspiration! What size are the stones in the existing earrings?

Seriously, I LOVE those earrings! Can you tell us more about those cushions (stats)? Where did you get them from? Beautiful!!

Thanks Diamondseeker and Emmebee:

I love my earrings too! They are E and F vs 2 and 1.16 and 1.14 or thereabouts each and have a .10 on top. These are old stones. Extremely deep. Super high crowns. Hmmmm. If I dont combine them what can I do with the AVC's to make them a bit different?

Maybe halo the AVC's? This is a BevK pair that I like a lot and have saved to either do cushion diamonds or perhaps colored stones. (Might make custom and not through BK, but I save pics for inspiration!)

I realize you may not want to do another pair of drops, but like you said, you could use a colored stone with them or make milgrain bezel studs or something like that. I am curious to see what you decide. I want to do a pair with rose cuts or possibly AVC's myself.

Yes. These are amazing but they are essentially a much nicer version of what I have. Mine are very plain which makes them very wearable. I wouldn't mind something more distinctive , like these you posted, but I would love them to be a different look. Ugh not sure what to do.

if i could find some calibre stones this is what i would do...

What about something like this idea?

You could have the cushions be on the earlobe as normal (maybe halo with some other stones?) and then have some colored stones hanging or peeking out from under in a cool design. Christian Dior made these double backed pearl earrings really popular too:

Maybe you could have something on the back?

Just some ideas =)

I think that would be so pretty! I feel like your setting maker could be able to source those stones. I think studs would be very nice as a contrast to your current pair!

I am so excited. The cushions will either have a row of square diamonds where the green stones are in the picture with the rounds in something green OR I will eliminate the calibre stones and just have the little rounds around the bezel.

I think that will be gorgeous! I cannot wait to see them!!!

That should be great, and I love your top pic of earrings, I am saving that pic for inspiration as well because I have an AVC and no idea what to do with it, your pic is the first thing I have seen that I have loved!!!!

Thanks--they are very simple and I have worn them nearly every day for ten years.

I have been searching for someone who can do this right. Steven Kirsch?

If you want super delicate pavework I'd go to Victor or to Steven.

Victor made my sapphire earrings. He does such beautiful work.

I also am impressed with Caysie van Bebber's work. Check out her Facebook page at CVB Inspired Design.

These two are the ones I am planning to have make my future pieces. They are both gifted and really nice, as well!
