Mariedtiger, I''ve noticed that you have quite a few Heart Of Water pieces. I''m in the process of setting my blue topaz asscher from Doug Menadue into a ring with Sally from HOW but I''m a bit lost with the custom laws and procedures in our country in connecting with this sort of project. This is my first time of acquiring the stone by myself and sending it somewhere else to be set so I don''t how this works. Sally has been great to work with and very helpful but I was wondering if you, mariedtiger, had some advice to share about this whole procedure: is there some specific custom documentation I need for the shipping the stone to Sally and what about getting the finished ring back, do I have to pay custom duty and VAT? I would be very grateful for any information you can provide for this sort of project.

I always send the stone using Sally''s instructions and haven''t had a problem yet

When you pick up the package from customs you have to pay VAT but usually there is no duty. You can check that with the customs, it depends on what you order

I just received very specific shipping instructions from Sally for us when we provide the stones, she speaks to all your questions. Have you gotten to that point in the process? She has very good info on it.

Thank you, mariedtiger and StonieGrl. Sally said she would give me her shipping instructions but we haven''t gotten to that point of the process yet. I wondered if there was something extra that should be done or I should know about but if Sally''s instructions are all that are needed then I''m good to go.

One more question mariedtiger: when the package comes back do I have to pay VAT for the setting and my own stone or just for the value of the setting?

I can''t wait to wear the amazing stone Doug cut in the setting Sally is going to design and make. It is my first gemstone purchase and ring ever so I''m very excited.

Hi, I just now saw this. You pay VAT on the invoice amount that you have from Sally, including shipping if you have to get the parcel from customs. Have fun
