OK...

So.. I am so glad that you are considering Turks and Caicos.. I just moved back to the States from there and I''m sooo bummed to be away.. here is the info you requested:

If money really isnt an issue... then I would suggest the Palms.. they have an amazing spa!! and you, my friend, could have a lovely pre-natal massage.. ask for Norma.. she is the best!!! I just adore her, she is a really close friend.. They have an amazing pool area with big huge round beds, and a zero entry pool that is divine!! also beautiful beach front (of course) with lounge chairs and umbrellas... and the frozen drinks are super yummy... minus the booze of course. Of course the rooms are simply delicious... ask MoreMoreMore... I believe she stayed there last April! http://www.regentpalms.com/

The Somerset, is next door.. and equally as beautiful... but not as many amenities or services as the Palms... my hubby is an Architect, and the Somerset was his fave property on Providenciales. http://www.thesomerset.com/

Also of note is The Sands... they are a decent resort, and more affordable than the above two... http://www.thesandsresort.com/

For diving: I recommend Provo Turtle Divers... I got certified with them and logged more than 30 dives in my two years there. My hubby and I are really good friends with the entire staff and owners... http://www.provoturtledivers.com/
Provo Turtle Divers has a deal with the Ocean Club Resorts with Dive/Resort packages.. so that is worth checking out...

The OB/GYN is Dr. Beate Gray, and she is at Menzes Clinic on Leeward Highway. She is absolutely fantastic.. love her to pieces.. in fact.. I also played hockey with her.. so is a very very personable lady... I can get a phone number for you if you need it. Just to have... just in case.

Ok.. so that is it for now.. I actually have to do some work... if you have any questions, please let me know. I''ll check in to see if you need some more answers.. I soooo hope you go there.. and if you do.. let me know.. and I''ll make a nice list of places to go!!!

Jaders, you are the best!! That is such awesome information, I can''t thank you enough. We are planning to talk everything over with the in-laws tomorrow (telling them a little earlier than planned, but oh well!) so I will go armed with that info. I already searched and found MoreMoreMore''s thread with all the gorgeous pix from her stay at the Palms. It really does look amazing. And a massage sounds lovely to me!! I did speak to my doctor and he didn''t seem TOO concerned about the malaria risk in Dominican Republic, so I''m not sure what to think about that... there were some websites about it that freaked me out. But I''ve always wanted to visit Turks and Caicos, and it does seem like it would involve a lot less worry than DR... so personally I''m leaning that way. DH is worried there won''t be enough to do, or enough artsy/cultural stuff for his mom... any thoughts on that? My family has always gone to St. John, which is very laidback, so I''m perfectly happy spending my vacations just lounging by the water... I don''t really need much activity!

Anyway, thanks again... I will definitely keep you posted!

Im so excited this is a real possibility for you!!! I love when people to get experience where I lived for two years!!!

you can also search Turks and Caicos.. I have a thread or two where I posted a bunch of my personal pictures from my time there!

As far as things to do: well Diving is number 1 there.. so that could occupy your time. and depending on when you go.. there always seems to be a celebration of some sort... so let me know the time and I will see if there is something going on.. that is the best time for cultural stuff. The Conch Shack is the best place for local food.. and on the way out there, is the Middle Caicos Co-op.. lots of local artist stuff. You can always take a day trip to one of the other islands like the Middle Caicos cave tour, which gives you a boat ride out to Middle Caicos (about an hour trip) and then tour the caves and get a history lesson... it also includes lunch on a private beach (gorgeous, I think I posted pics of that beach on here).. There is also Big Blue Unlimited that has Eco-tours which are amazing... kayaking through the mangroves, bike rides on North or Middle Caicos. There is the Conch Farm you can go to, which for $6 you can learn all you care to (and MORE!!) about conch.. i have to say that was truly interesting!
So.. it is a laid back atmosphere, and you may get bored at times.. but it is a dream destination if you truly want to relax.. and you can supplement that with a couple trips or activities... oooh.. I forgot to mention, Grace Bay Club is also a lovely resort!

Hope that helps!! Any more questions.. I''ll be here!

Jaders, just wanted to let you know we are finalizing Turks and Caicos today I think! Both the Somerset and the Palms look fantastic... we''d like to do a 3-bedroom oceanview, so we figure Somerset might be a better option cost-wise, but we have to speak to the places directly first. Great reviews on TripAdvisor too! I told my MIL about the co-op and biking/kayaking, and told my DH about the eco-tours (he is an environmental guy), and all the guys are planning to scuba too of course. My mom and I are just happy on the beautiful beach... I am getting SO excited!!
