Finally able to get pics of the yard this year. We had too much going on last year that we didn't have time to do anything fun w/the yard. It's been super dry-we finally got about an inch of rain a couple nights ago, but still not enough to make up for what we're behind. I have a couple other yard threads https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/yard-pictures.162216/ from 2011, and this from 2010 https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/before-after-outside-house-yard-pics.144746/

Will start w/pics of how the house looked when we first bought it right before we got married, mostly b/c I think it's hysterical. I hated this house so badly.

I grew up on 3 acres of ginormous trees and flowers/plants as far as the eye could see. (literally, about 5000 just in daffodils) It takes up a LOT of time on that grand a scale. JD and I both agreed we would NOT be doing that. However...we've done something to the yard every year since we got married in 2001. And next years plans are big. That *should* finish everything tho, so it's just maintenance from then on out.

We're not done readying the back yard yet, so those pics will be along later tonight, and I have front pics for now.

Up front what is new is the line of barberries up the east side of the property-we took them from the back yard-so this finishes framing the yard out. Also, the corner bed on the right side is new. The tub bed had daylilies in front of the tub and we took them out and replaced them w/knock out roses.

Next year....I finally got JD convinced we need to have a full flower/plant garden up front instead of grass. Super excited about that!!

That looks super nice! And waaaaay better than before! Your hard work has really paid off :appl:

What a transformation! I am SO impressed! I have a black thumb and can't even keep a houseplant alive, so when I see an oasis like that, I'm fairly amazed! I can only imagine all of the hard work that's gone into achieving such a great result! :appl: :appl:

Thanks guys! It is a lot of work, but so rewarding to sit out there and relax!

Got back pics. None from the roof, like last year b/c someone is borrowing the ladder. Hopefully later..I love the ones from the roof!

These are pics of the new three tiered wall JD put in, and two hosta planters. We also used to have a walkway that went around the cement deck, and we just raised it up so it's now one ginormous deck that basically extends clear out to the other end of the yard.

These are pics of the view from the back deck looking out and one more of the changes to the deck.

This is changed. We used to have pots of hostas in between the small brick planters of vines on the fence. The pots are a pain, so it finally dawned on us this year to plant the dumb things in the ground!

This is the new bed. It's where the garden was the last couple years. JD used landscape timbers to make the walkway and the center.

Wow, beautiful. :appl: :appl:

Wow, it all looks great! What an improvement!

Have you thought about going into landscaping? Seriously, one of my co-workers has been landscaping professionally as a side job for years... I think he does pretty well at it.

It's gorgeous, Packrat!! Can't believe the difference! Look how your hostas are blossoming -- if it's been dry, they seem to like it. Can't imagine how many thousands of bucks you've added to the house value. Besides, it looks like heaven to sit out there. I'm really impressed.
