Hi,

I am currently looking at a round brilliant 1.29ct colour H, clarity p2 diamond. I haven''t seen it in the flesh yet but am going to look at it this afternoon, it is set in 18ct white gold and the person who is selling it is asking $1000 AUD. What are your opinions on this clarity on a diamond? Thanks.

Thanks for your opinion! I suppose the best way to make the decision is to just wait and see what it actually looks like in real life, just thought I''d get a heads up on some opinons. Thanks!

Ditto, no. It''s more accepted in something like earrings that people will not look at up close.

1k AUD is about $650 USD in todays money - I can almost garauntee a 1.3ct diamond With setting for $650 is either
1. horrible
2. clarity enhanced or something similiar
3. a scam..
4. not a diamond
5. all of the above

I could go on..do you mind if I ask where you've found this seller? An 18kt setting, unless its extremely basic and badly made, should be worth the 1k alone.
There has to be something else than just p2 clarity going on, imho.

I'm also an Australian if you would like some suggestions of reputable diamond sellers - but I'm afraid you will not get anywhere near a 1ct for 1k (not sure if you have a bigger budget or no?)..

Pass... I''ve seen some nice I1''s, but it''s all because the cut was AMAZING!
It seems like once they get past I1, they just don''t take the time to give it a good cut, the inclusions become super obvious and then there is just no sparkle there at all.
I''d rather have something a bit smaller but with better clarity and a good cut.
Anyways, much luck on your search- bring back pics!

Um, no, maybe not. Shouldn't it have a certification? Is it clarity enhanced? Just looking at a diamond isn't the best way to buy one.

I'd get a report from a reputable lab. You're not talking pocket change.

No. Don''t buy. I2 and I3 stones are cloudy and lifeless. At least I''ve never seen one that was not.

Depending on who graded it an I2 you could easily end up with something like this. Clear as mud.

At 1.29ct an RB will face up rather large and with an I2, you''re likely be able to see the inclusion half a mile away. For the love of God, don''t do it!

The odds are that this diamond will be visibly included and not be an attractive diamond, personally I would pass.

No, but I would consider a fairly clean I1 was that graded by GIA or AGS and if I was a size gal.
