Ovals- How to set?

I need some help setting an oval - probably around 2.3-2.5 carats (we are picking the stone), l/w of about 1.3. I am split between pears or 2 rbs or ovals. I love a three stone oval ring, but it is SO hard to get the proportion right. Also most ovals have some sort of bowtie, and I have seen bad three stone oval rings where there is a dark line going across all three stones. FF does not like half moons. Thoughts?

If I had an oval I would set it E/W in a delicate halo on a wide platinum band that tapered at the back.

But since you like 3-stone rings -- how about setting it N/S flanked by two smaller half moons green tsavorites on a dainty floral engraved band?

I like the idea of pears. I have an oval set with kite shaped side stones. I like the tapering effect. Have you thought of other types of side stones.

I thought that looking at photos of some potential designs might help you as you are unlikely to see a good selection of three diamond rings featuring a central oval in any one place.

It IS possible to get good ovals without strong bow ties - here is a picture from Tiffany of their 3-oval design to give you an idea of how this could look

I LOVE the 3 stone oval look...My friend has a 3 stone oval (just like the pp's picture) that she wears with a RB eternty band. Its gorgeous!!!!

I would give Leon Mege a call and let him source the sidestones of your choice, and then have him make an awesome 3 stone ring for you!
