Oval Woes! Does a J diamond look nice in a platinum halo?

I found this 1.29 carat oval diamond on Blue Nile, the specs look great to me but the only question I have is will the J color be noticeable in a platinum halo setting? Any J oval platinum halo ring photos welcomed! Thanks

You can't buy a fancy shape "by the numbers". No lab actually grades cut on ovals, so any designation of cut quality is subjective on the part of the seller.

Why do you need IF????

The color is more obvious in fancy shapes than in ideal cut rb's. I have a J emerald cut in white gold, and while I can see the color it doesn't bother me - gives it character.

IF wasn't required, it was actually just the best option that I found for the carat size on Blue Nile. I also didn't want to go too low in clarity because I won't be able to see it in person until it's delivered. Do you have a photo of your J emerald? Would love to see it!

There you can actually see the stones and get an idea if you like the look of it

So I have changed my mind on the oval color thanks to you all! I found another option on Blue Nile, 1.35 carat oval H color SI2 clarity 1.33 l/w ratio, the Blue Nile customer service people are great and they were able to tell me that the diamond is "eye clean". Would you trust an oval SI2 to actually be eye clean? It seems like I can see imperfections on SI2 stones on James Allen, but I don't really know what I'm looking at. Below are the particular diamond's clarity characteristics from the GIA certificate...looks scary to me but apparently it is eye clean. Thanks!

I would never buy an oval sight unseen and without an ASET. It may be beautiful... it may be mushy with a big bowtie... you just don't know. That's where pics and videos come in handy. But I guess you could order it and see what you think in person...

Makes sense, I guess that's the risk you take with ordering an oval on Blue Nile. At least their return policy is good and so far the customer service has been top notch!

Does BN pay shipping both ways if you want to return it? You could certainly ask them to send you this one or your top faves and send back what you dont like. If you have to pay for shipping, it could get expensive if you happen to not like them.
