Oval without a bow-tie possible?

Is it possible to find an Oval that has the bowtie minimized by cut?

In a stone, say around, 3.75cts, up to 4.00ct ?

I am just sort''a thinking about this - cause those cushions I love are not out there.

Not really, but it can be so subtle it doesn't show without some special props (Iscope, say) or looking very, very intently. As far as I can tell, the bowtie can (but not necesarily) go away in deep stones (70% or so) that are short (1.2:1, 1.3:1 l/w). Honestly, those are not the most attractive ovals and the extra depth makes them small. The havier the stone, the more visible the effect of extra depth on size so 3-4 carats better be well cut from that point of view. All in all, I'd rather have a bit of bow tie in a longer oval that's not all that deep. Just IMO, of course.

Finding a picture of an oval I'd say has no bow tie to speak of is not easy. Finding them in person is worse ! here's one:

however, the proportions of that stone are not quite cherry: 73%depth, 52%table, 17%crown height... Three carat would look no different than 2! If that is no issue, than why not.


This one below has a very subtle one and more desirable proportions...

Perhaps Jonathan would care to pick this Q up. It is well within his teritory.

I have someone looking for a cushion and it just seems they are few and far between. Not many out there that fall within the specs I am looking for. So, I thought, since I love the oval, but it would have to have minimal bow-tie and I didn''t know if cut and/or size could help out.

Also love the fact that ovals measurements vs a cushion (of same ct. weight) are bigger!!!
