Hi all,
I have a gorgeous mount for a 0.40ct stone, so I purchased a beautiful 0.40 VVS1, excellent cut canary yellow diamond for that purpose. Now ... the diamond has arrived and I've realised it's oval, not round as expected. Disaster, as I can't send it back.
Excuse my ignorance (I have tried to research this matter - although I've not yet taken it to my usual jewellers as it's out of town and I've not had time yet) but does anyone know if it's actually possible to put a oval diamond into a mount originally intended for a round brilliant stone? Will it look weird? It's a 4 prong mount, which I'm told is already an issue just because of how secure the diamond would be (or rather wouldn't), but I must admit I don't like the look of a 6 prong anyway so I did purposely choose a 4 prong. Would the stone be even less secure in a 4 prong, what with it being oval?
Any help appreciated.
