Hi there,
My girlfriend is really interested in 2 carat oval shapes as well as longer cushion diamonds with ratios of 1.14+, so the search begins! She prefers as great a spread on her finger as possible, so she is leaning more towards the ovals.Only problem with my search at this point is that I have read a few conflicting things on the ''net about the bowtie effect. According to the diamondreview.com site''s tutorial section:
An excellent oval= Depth of 56-72%
Length/Width ratio of 1.55:1 to 1.45:1
This means there is an absence of a bowtie.
However, I have read that an oval depth of 63-67% has a more minimal bowtie effect and that the shallower the cut, the worse it is...so I''m quite confused! (this was on the www.drostes.com/oval-depth.html site)
I personally like the cushion cuts more (even though I think ALL diamonds are beautiful) but they seem much smaller for the same carat weight and I want her as happy as can be with the stone...I don''t want to spend more than 9,000 on a loose stone and I''m comfortable with going down to an I color and SI-2 clarity, but no less.
I have found 1 stone on the pricescope search that sounds nice (?) and I might have one of the online vendors call it in (either whiteflash, angara, abazias...all are selling this)
2.2 carat
I color SI2 oval
59.6% depth and 53% table
Good symmetry VG polish m-vtk girdle
No culet
Medium blue fluorescence
10.32x7.13x4.25
