Hi Everyone!

I''m new to PS but have been thoroughly enjoying lurking for some months as my fiance and I select "the ring"... (we''re deciding between using Mark T for a cushion halo or going for the original Jack Kelege setting we had originally wanted-

My cousin has recently asked me to help him find a ring for his gf and she likes ovals and rb....

But, here''s a question I have for everyone as you know much more about diamonds than I do...I just saw a 2.12 ct oval with side stones and a halo totaling 3.17 ct on the Costco site for $14,000. All it says is that the stone is an I and VS2. Isn''t that a very good deal, or is there something wrong with it?

You''re input is always much appreciated!

Ellie

My guess is that its not the greatest quailty stone. Now, thats all a matter of if the wearer thinks its beautiful or not...but w/o pictures that''s what I think!

Hi Ellie,

Firstly what was the type of lab report, GIA? The type of lab report can greatly affect price - as to whether it is a good deal, not enough info at this stage to tell.

Ditto to Lorelei. Lab reports are needed. But again with ovals, we need some pics. I am a HUGE oval fan. I am very picky too. Not a fan of ones with bow ties.. So if you can get us pics and some more info that would be great.

Many of the Costco diamonds do have G.I.A. Certs. You have to read the bottom section attatched to the non-G.I.A. cert. for the cert number and info.Ive seen a good selection of colors and clarity, buy you have to really know how to read the cut info to know if the make is good, excellant ideal ect.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Oval-Diamond-1205718.asp this one might be worth pursuing (Get an IS) it's 12,300 with PS discount . If the budget is around 14-15K... then how about adding it to this lovely solitaire with diamonds setting? It think it's a really classic look and elegant. http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/ring/item_412-1921.asp

Or this one that makes a lovely statement:

Or this one (which I'm sure they can make for an oval): http://www.jamesallen.com/designer-jewelry/meno-collection-by-danhov/ring/item_294-215.asp

Halo's with sidestones are lovely, but they can be an aquired taste and lifestyle poor choices. And unless you are SURE this is to her taste, I'd probably not go with this style (though if you are going to do it, at least Costco has a nice return policy): http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11467791&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|108|28447|56574&N=4017520&Mo=57&pos=0&No=0&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=56574&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC10573-Cat28447&topnav=

Ha, Gypsy YOU ROCK!!!! I actually made an attempt to purchase that ring however, Jason at Pearlman''s mentioned that because I am a 6.5 ring size. it would be too much to size for that ring. But, That is the one I loved!!!! Thank you do much for sending it :).

I was hoping to find another pre-ownedn (more ring for the $$) but may just purchase a 2 ct from GOG or ERD and then have ERD make a ring similar to MMM''s and Winnie''s...again, if you have any suggestions on that please do share...your opinions are always appreciated!

The Costco ring is off the site...perhaps a PS''er actually got it! :) you never know
