Hi everyone...

After having debated for a LONG time about what I wanted to do for a wedding band, and after my FI and I met with Leon a few days ago to discuss, I think that I may finally have been talked into not wearing a wedding band on the same finger as my e-ring. It''s ironic, because part of the impetus for the twisted shank design that I had Leon create was so that I could wear a band with minimal damage. That said, I tried on a ton of different options during our trip to NYC, and both my FI and Leon suggest getting a more substantial ring as a wedding band to wear on my right hand. Both my FI and Leon prefer my e-ring without anything else - and I''m beginning to be won over by their logic(if I did wear a band with it I''d likely wear a spacer, too, and I''ll admit that it starts to look a little ''busy'').

We discussed an eternity band with Leon - he actually suggested an asscher band. However, the closer that I get to our wedding, the more sentimental I am becoming about my wedding band. I would like something that I can have forever without having to worry about whether or not it can be sized. I tried on some 5 stone bands at Tiffany''s and both my FI and I really liked that look. We actually prefer and think that we''ll go with RB''s, although Leon''s preference was for square cut stones. I also found the 5 stone bands much more comfortable than the eternity bands.

So, I''m now trying to decide what size stones I''d like to find for this band. I really like the look of kcoursolle''s lovely five stone ring:

I believe that she has .31 ct stones and a size 4.5 finger. I''ve also seen some similarly designed five stone rings that end up looking too large, in my opinion. I''m wondering - for a five stone ring on a size 6 finger, what''s the largest stone size that you''d use? At what point, in your opinion, would stones begin looking too large for an elegant and streamlined looking 5 stone design?

For reference, my e-ring is here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/im-engaged-introducing-my-2-68-fvs2-in-my-new-leon-custom-setting-at-last.80177/

Any feedback would be most appreciated - thank you!!

Well, I normally say go ahead and get a thin wedding band to wear with the e-ring, however, your ring just might be an exception! The shank of that ring makes a statement and really can standalone when a regular solitaire cannot. Let me say that I don''t think it matters what Leon or your fiance think...it is what YOU love the most that matters! So if you''d be happy having a separate band for the other hand, then I think that is a nice solution. I think your reasoning about getting larger stones in a five stone rather than full eternity is a good one. I don''t think large stone eternity rings are all that comfortable and you''d have to be SO careful not to whack the stones everytime you grab something.

I really don''t know what size stones to advise you, though. I also wear a 6 on my right hand, but I haven''t tried on a 5 stone band with larger stones. I''m thinking up to maybe .40 points each might work, though. You probably need to go back to Tiffany and specifically look at the sizes on your finger (not total weight but the mm sizes of the stones).

I agree with DS. Just from the title I was thinking .40s. That's something I'd love to have one day myself. I am a size 7, and I think if I were just wearing it alone all the time, I'd look at .50s to compare. Might be too much, I don't know. But the .40s five stone rings I've seen on PS have looked beautiful.

Thanks! I am certainly going to get whatever I think is right for me, regardless of my FI''s and Leon''s opinions, however this idea of a band for my right hand is growing on me. I figure that down the line I could get a thin pave band or thin plain band if I want the option of wearing a band with my e-ring, however I would still have the 5 stone as my ''original'' band that I was married with. I also like that I could wear it alone on my left hand on occasions when I may not want to wear my e-ring (while traveling, for instance).

That''s a good point about stone diameter vs. tcw. At Tiffany''s I was just focusing on tcw. Unfortunately, I''m now back in Canada and so another trip to Tiffany''s is not an option right now. I could probably find a few BM''s here where I could at least get an idea.

Thanks for the feedback! I''ve been looking in the 5 stone ring threads for some examples of .40s five stone rings, but have only found one. Do you have any favorites that you could direct me to? Maybe there''s another thread out there in SMTR that I haven''t found yet!

Oh, I think you are one smart lady to go for the blingy band now since the guys apparently think it is a good idea!

It won''t be a big deal later to add another little band to wear with your e-ring! I think the 2mm Tiffany Legacy band that I have would be perfect with your ring!

HI:

Half carat stone. Demelza''s ring is an excellent example:

I like a very slim band like the legacy. But in all honesty, with your ring, no diamonds are "necessary". It is a statement all on its own.

. BTW, how does your celebration ring look with your ER?

We should meet--and you can try on my 6.25ctw asscher eternity ring on--willl give you a perspective of how that will look and perhaps let you know that a 5 stone ring is really what you should have!

Hey Sharon!

I LOVE that 5 stone of Demelza's - that's my favorite 5 stone yet! My celebration ring *could* go with my ER, however I would still need some sort of spacer, I think, and the fact that my celebration band is graduated makes it not ideal... That said, it does 'bling' it up!

I'd love to try on your asscher - I thought of you immediately when Leon suggested an asscher band...

Hi there, I am so flattered you like the style of my wedding band!

I think it''s so much more fun and versatile to wear your band on the opposite hand, so you have so many options. If you were wearing it with your e-ring I''d go smaller with the stones, but since it''s a stand alone unique ring I say you could go as large as you feel comfortable with. I think my ring is about as blingy as I would go for my tiny hands, but with a size 6 .4 stones would probably still look quite nice, but .30 would still be blingy as well on your hand. On days when you don''t want to be as blingy you could have leon make you a thin pave band.

I would just get out there and try some bands on to give you a feel for how large you want to go. I agree with DS that what you want is the most important. I love your e-ring by the way, it''s just incredible!!!

The open sides of your band just make me swoon! I think that you''re right - that I could go fairly large for a stand alone, but it looks like some more trying on might be in order, just to be *sure*!
