Who has one? Who wants one? Who loves theirs and why?

I'm in search of the perfect ottoman for a coffee table type function. I've seen a variety out there and wanted to see if anyone has one they love. I prefer the ones with turned legs. Some have storage. Some are coffee table height (about 19") and some are lower (like 13") -- anyone have experience here??

Here are some ideas...

Here's one I love, but it's only 13.5" high -- seems kind of low.

Love this one, but sticker shock!

Also a good option, but a bit small.

Happy medium, but don't love the coloring.

A little too modern, but an option nonetheless.

We have one, but if I'm being honest, we just put a large wooden tray on top of it so we can actually use it as a coffee table. It looks nice, but if we were in the market for new furniture I'd probably just get a regular coffee table. Ours has no storage and no legs, though. I really like the second to last one you posted.

I have one with storage. It has legs. We also put a tray on it for use as a coffee table. I like it a fair bit because we use it a lot for putting our feet up when we watch TV. I also like that it is soft edged because our son runs around like a maniac a lot and can't hurt himself on it. He also like to jump onto the ottoman from the couch  So it is multipurpose.

We have one, I've had it for years. It's more long than square, and leather tufted. No storage, but it has legs. I leave a tray on top of it so we can use it for drinks etc. Otherwise I love having it! it's comfy to put my legs on. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd get one with storage as well. Usually those are a little more stiff, not as cushy and soft, but multi-functional.

But my ottoman is now in need for replacement. The leather is wearing where we put our feet up and some of the leather on the button tufts are getting scratched off. I got mine on Overstock. It lasted me about 7 years.

You've all confirmed that we want an ottoman...just a matter of finding the right one!

On a whim I picked up a really nice wooden tray at Marshalls for $25 the other day, so I've got that taken care of.

In terms of height, how tall is the sweet spot? As tall as the couch seat? A little lower??

Our living room ottoman doubles as a coffee table--we just put a tray on it to serve cheese or hold drinks. Most of the time, we use it as an ottoman as we have some side tables in there that work just fine for setting down drinks and such. Ours is the same height as the couch seats, which works well. I think it would be uncomfortable if it were any lower.

+1

our side tables are mainly used to hold drinks if it's just us at home...we use a tray on the ottoman only when we have guests over and need more space to hold items. my ottoman is the same height as the sofa seats. this is the one i have: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/sullivan-leather-rectangular-ottoman/
