There is a star with 7 rays inside it... but it is very hard to hold it straight. In shade, star turnes the other way around, the bright areas become dark. This is against dark window... it looks brownish on my monitor (not on the other one) - but in reality it is totally salmon - y. A very strong color shift.
It looks red on this carpet... sorry, again my monitor brings out brown (TL, now I understand you better. Good that I have this monitor. It distorts other colors, though).
This stone is difficult to photograph. First, it shifts color. Second, this 7-ray star looks different in different light and the stone has to be held straight to see the "rays". Third, it turns from pink to salmony, and is also very, very bright.
And this is rhodochrosite I bought from Freakingcat... totally different stone, do not know much about rhodochrosites, less about Freakingcat. Open to critique.
The first thing I did when I opened the package was to drop it on the floor! I know it is very soft, I do not know how brittle it is... it survived, so not that brittle I presume.
This is green zoizite. Both stones from seriously-gemented. Sorry the light is horrible - I was just frightened to walk out with the zoizite on the street after dropping the rhodochrosite. If anyone is interested in this stone, I may attempt tomorrow. Very clean and bright. Very nice cut.

I’m glad you’ve posted so many pictures; I get to see the stone’s many different personalities (cool star effect BTW) and I’ll excuse the poor photography. Your lighting is quite poor; short of walking outside, either use a stronger indoor light source or combine it with strong sunlight streaming in through the window might help.
Love your pyrope, crasru! Even in poor lighting, you can tell that its color is amazing. I bought the one he currently has on his website, in the hopes that it would look similar to yours. It doesn't, really, but it's still very pretty.
I don't know much about rhodochrosite, other than they're soft but that one seems to be a very nice color.
I'd like to see more pictures of the green stone.
BTW, really like your yellow gold ring with the green stone (tsavorite?)!
Thank you, Chictomato! Your sapphires have inspired me to use similar settings.
Thank you, Chrono. I shall play with the light... You are right, as always.
Thank you, Burberrygirl. (BTW - I read your "au naturel" posting in the "Hangout". Sounds like you are a match for your stone! Too bad you did not post your photographs when we had that thread.)
Thank you, Baby Nurse. The green stone is more interesting than beautiful. It is just rare. It is well-cut and may be set, but likely it will end up in my collection. And thank you for complimenting my tsavorite. I now wear this tsavorite + pink ruby from Gene on my left index ring finger, my ruby on my right ring finger, and my emerald on my right pinky, I think TL likes pink/red + green combinations.
Thank you, TL! I absolutely love Uli's stone, never expected it to be so bright. I think that he is a master with big future, and I am now looking for a stone like yours to make a special pendant for my doctor - among his stones. Quality/price ratio is quite favorable.
