FYI, most people I know would not take responsibility for setting a stone when you have neither bought the stone, nor the setting from them. Financially it makes ZERO sense...labor for setting a stone costs infinitely less than the money they make from a setting or a stone, so why would they accept responsibility for chipping the stone when they stand little $$ to make and a lot of cost to bear should something happen?Date: 5/24/2007 5:20:17 PM

As long as you have someone local who you TRUST set it, there shouldn''t be an issue with the strength.
HOWEVER, you need to make sure that the local setter will insure your diamond in case of damage. Many say it''s ''at your own risk'' unless you buy the diamond from them. So be careful.
