Hey Everyone,

I have a question about the "order" in which you do things. I am planning to buy my girlfriend her engagement ring from an online vendor. My question is what should the next step be. Should I go and have it appraised after receiving it, and then have it insured all before I pop the question? Or should I wait until after I ask her to have it appraised and insured? I am just curious on what people think. I figure I''ll have the ring for about a month before I actually pop the question. The purchase price of the ring is about $3,000.

Oh, I live out in California near Santa Barbara and am also looking for recommendations of some good appraisers near my area. I would prefer not to drive up north to San Francisco since it''s 5 hours. Closer to the Los Angeles or central coast area would be better.

Anybody''s opinions and previous experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the appraiser tool Gary

https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx Looks like there are 2 in the LA area.

I would get the ring appraised and insured as soon as you get it to make sure it is covered rather than wait until you give it to her.
