How is it possible that these Ideal cut Old european Cuts have light return with such a high crown height combined with pavilion angles around 41.0 , Would it be better to cut to normal Ideal round cut proportions without pavilion main facets to give the same look ?
Or is the small table/culet essential to the look ?

small table.high crown yes it is a big part of makes them what the are.
open culet is more optional unless you love the kozibe effect(reflection of the culet in the crown mains) then you want a large one or bigger.

August Vintage Rounds which were developed by Good Gold Gold are newly cut OEC's designed to have excellent-ideal light performance. You can see one in my avatar picture.

People buy OEC's for their charm and beauty overall and not light performance. When they were cut, candlelight was the common light source.
