Hello,

I feel like a total idiot. Please forgive me posting again. This diamond thing is a huge commitment.

Does anybody like the stone on the left???

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/is-optical-symmetry-needless-perfection.10184/

Stone 1 looks similar to the one on the right.
Stone 2 is similar to the one on the left on the above link.

Is the H&A pattern something I will readily see often? I''m not that fond of it, but of course want the best fire and light return.
I''ve been reading a LOT on here, day and night (cramming years of pricescope threads), looking for I don''t know what, to help with this decision. I am STILL going back and forth between two beautiful stones. Both have a lot of color, sparkle. Some say that when the diamond is dirty from everyday wear, most people will notice the symmetrical ones looking better.

Here are the vital statistics previously posted:

The salesperson says she would take Stone 1, larger and less expensive. It does look surprisingly larger. That is the one I selected, but they are waiting for the head to come in to set it, so I am still going back and forth. My husband says I am just taken with the idea of a "fire stone" ---frankly, after I look at the two stones for some time, they start looking practically the same to me! The salesperson says, I just keep staring at the smaller one -- she nor my husband can figure out the attraction to that one. Thankfully, they are both being patient and just want me to be happy.

So is there really more color in a fire stone????

To me, there is a great amount of color in both of them. I see nice evenly dispersed colors in Stone1, maybe more yellow flashes, but certainly good colors. Stone2, I see more purples and orange at the edges --- oh, and this is in the store, not out in daylight.

If I look over at them when my husband is looking at them, say a couple of feet away, I can see the difference in the "G'' and "I" colors, but honestly, it isn''t a huge difference and the fire/brilliance seems much the same. And I don''t think it would be apparent if they weren''t right together.

There is also the LGF consideration -- many things at play here.

I''m always chasing rainbows....

Thanks for your patience, especially those who already helped!!

In some lighting conditions all reasonably well cut diamonds will look good when static and it is hard to tell apart from one another.
At 2+ feet you are much more likely seeing the difference in the cut rather than the color.

In lighting where you like 2 diamonds equally start moving them and the differences will become more apparent.

When I move them, they look reeeeally good, and almost identical, but for size....so am I just being a worrywart? I think it''s cool that they ARE so much alike in colors and all when moving, just hoping one would "speak" to me in a big way,as it were -- when they are not moving is when the differences are actually more apparent. Looking at the numbers, it seems to me go with the larger... which is why I am questioning my sanity in liking the smaller stone.

Thanks for your patience with me and any continued input!

How would you feel if someone swiped the smaller stone out from under you? If the thought of it is painful then maybe that is the diamond for you. As to any arrow pattern, you don't notice it in all lights and when you do they look more silvery. Also the fire in a fiery ideal cut is dependant on the lighting conditions and with those proportions the stone could lend itself to showing extra fire, but as to its actual performance you won't know unless you can give it a good test run.

I know it is a difficult decision to make, but in my opinion you can buy diamonds with your head and research, but sometimes you need to listen to your heart, even if that isn't the diamond you ultimately pick, as it seems to be ' haunting' you a bit then perhaps really thinking it through before you pull the trigger on either of them might be the thing to do.

Is damond 2 eyeclean? (you mention seeing small black inclusion). Also, I think you need to see both diamonds in different lighting conditions not just the intense spotlight of the store. The differences may become more apparant to you then.

Thanks, Lorilei, that''s a good way to look at it!! I will think about that. The first word that comes to mind is, "ouch".

Yes, you''re right. Can you tell I am not sleeping a lot around here?! Oh, if only I weren''t so emotional about this...but then, I guess if I weren''t, it wouldn''t be as much joy when I finally get "the right one" ... thank you again.

Wonder what they would think if I brought in a small regular table lamp....tee hee....
