I''m just curious if you and your DH/FI/BF are more alike or total opposites and how/if that works for you two?

We are definitely more alike. Sometimes we joke that we are the male and female versions of the same person.

We are a happy mixture...similar in many regards and opposite in others.

We''re similar in views on politics, religion, and things of that nature. We''re the same when it comes to communication and handling a relationship.

Our interests are MUCH different.

I''m a weird combination of jock/shopaholic. I''m super competitive at sports, and love playing sport. I love girly things like make up and clothes and purses. I love watching sports on TV. I don''t like video games or techy-stuff a whole lot. FF loves computers (he writes software for a living), video games, technology, role-playing games, dungeons and dragons, stuff like that. He is a self-proclaimed "nerd"

Somehow we work really well together, and we''ve kind of rubbed off on one another.

We are mostly opposites (even down to our zodiac signs--he''s a Cancer, I''m a Capricorn), but we totally balance each other out. Of course there are many things on which we are totally in sync but for the most part, we are pretty different. We share lots of common interests, political/social views, child rearing methods, etc. but communicate and emote very differently. I think we are a good combination.

We''re much more alike than different, I think that is because our families are so alike and we were raised very similarly. We have very similar values, morals, and ideas about our futures and how we want to raise our kids.

We do have differences though! He''s much more laid back, and is definitely a man''s man whereas I like to plan and am super girly! Oh, I just love him...

total opposites

my FI and I are more alike than not.. we fight EXACTLY the same (although it is rare) and we are both really stubborn so eventually we throw up our hands and just give in- otherwise the fight could go on forever. we are both really sensitive and we both would do anything for anyone..

he is a total psycho neat freak. i mean he dries the sink after each use!. i am more laid back and could care less if there was water in the sink

Gary and I have the same religious views. We also share the same goals regarding parenting our children. Other than that we are complete opposites. He is very opinionated, I tend to keep my views to myself. He can be grumpy and I am jolly! He loves computer games... I hate them! I could go on and on.....

Same here. Our interests are different, but our life goals, values and priorities are very much the same.

Almost identical...

Same likes/dislikes, similar hobbies and interests. He's more into photography and I'm more into bling, but we take more than a passing interest in each other's hobbies. We both love shopping, interior design and playing board games/poker.

The only things I can think of that we disagree on are the monarchy (I'm pro, he's anti) and Inheritance Tax (he's okay with it, I think it's immoral & evil).

In over 4 years we've never had a single fight or argument.

He's a Scorpio, I'm a Leo.

For small things we are opposite. He loves hip hop, I tolerate it. I love salsa, he tolerates it. We don't have the same taste in movies. I'm always cold. He's always hot. That sort of things.

But we are fundamentally the same. We're both cappys so we think alike and we get stubborn over the same things.

We have different hobbies though. He's a musician so he's always working in the studio and loves to do that constantly. I prefer quietness...I read, do crossword puzzles. It works out great because he goes into his studio for a few hours while I read and then we meet up later.

Totally alike when it comes to family values, morals, politics. Totally opposite with finances, hobbies, and dinner!!

... both? If you tried to graph us, we''d probably come out like a yin-yang.

We''re both type-A overachievers, but he''s a steadier worker than I am: he''ll work through the week until something is done, whereas I like (this may be the wrong word as I HATE it, but do it anyway) to procrastinate till the last minute. We''re both huge fans of speculative fiction, but whereas I have a fantasy collection of frightening proportions, he''s much more into SF (and between the two of us, we have every library I''ve ever seen beat). We''re both argumentative as hell, but according to Meyers-Brigg, I''m an ENFJ while he''s an ENTJ - and the difference between feeling and thinking is probably the greatest difference/issue we have. Since we both *like* to debate, it''s not too much of a problem in terms of topics, but it can be in terms of approaches. So the rest of our differences are fuel for that ... politically, I''m a liberal through and through, he''s kind of more of a Libertarian, religiously I''m a pagan, and he''s a combat atheist, stylistically I''m a big adherent of the idea that too much is never enough while he''s a minimalist ... but somehow, it all seems to work out.

We''re almost identical... some people find this frightening.

We have exactly the same views on politics, religion, and so-called values. We have the same academic interests and study the same things. We are now following a very similar career path. We have the same hobbies and love to do everything together.

It''s not for everyone, but it works very well for us, and I think it''s one of the reasons we hardly ever fight, even though we spend the vast majority of our free time together, and prefer it that way.

People always think I''m lying when I say that DH & I don''t fight. We just don''t. Glad to know there are others like us!

Totally agree!

In terms of values, we are spot on!

In other regards, he is more hard science, I am social science. He is more logical (sometimes).

ENFJ vs INTJ

It seems to work, we haven''t killed each other yet...

We're very alike in our personailites but opposite in our talents. For example, DH is math oriented and I'm writing oriented. He's great at technical and mechanical projects with lots of guidelines and instructions; I'm better at artsy or interpretive projects with no instructions (I don't like lots of rules and stipulations

). So, if you put us together, we're one darn gifted person. Apart, we're pretty average. Haha!

:) It was 2+ years before we had anything that I would even call a "fight or disagreement". We don''t yell, EVER. never never. Hehe, our last skirmish was because I didn''t want to go to someone''s wedding (BF was in it)!
11.gif
My roommate said that she and her ex would have fights that were 4-5 hours long. Literally. Yelling. For hours.

Her new BF is soooooo sweet, I am so happy for her! (And he''s fine!)

We are very opposite in our personalities and temperaments, but oddly, it works for us. We have been together for 4 years and married for 2, and in all that time, we have only argued maybe 5 times total. I am very boisterous and outgoing, and my husband is very quiet and introverted. His personality actually soothes me, and because both of us aren''t ereaching for the spotlight, there''s no competition. In the past, I dated people who were a lot like me, but it would never work out - we would end up fighting all the time - two fiery, strong-willed people together never worked for me. My husband is like a steady rock - he is not wimpy by any means, but he is very mature and doesn''t lose his temper, so any time I start to get worked up I kind of start to feel foolish next to him, since he''s the picture of composure, and it calms me back down to a civil level ;)

The only not-as-great thing is that we don''t have a lot of hobbies in common - he likes sports, I like the arts and reading. We both enjoy working out and going to restaurants, and he''ll indulge me with a trip to the ballet once a year, but I think a lot of that may be more of male/female differences.

Overall, I know they say that like personalities work together the best, but for this fiery Leo, I needed a balanced Libra to bring some stability into my life ;)

when we started dating we were opposited. it seems that the longer we are together the more we become alike. sometimes we say the same things at the same time and i can tell you that would have never happened 4 years ago. i guess we are just growing together. aawww now that you make me think about i think it is nice.

Mostly opposites.

Opposites (INTJ and ESFP) with similar interests

Mixture. Our personalities are quite similar, our communication styles are different. Our taste in food and hobbies is similar, our taste in entertainment is not.

We''re alike in some areas, but opposites in others. We like the same kinds of foods, love sports, like to travel, love the outdoors, have the same views on a lot of things. Personality wise, we are very different. He''s very outgoing, I''m somewhat shy. He''s more math oriented and loves numbers, I hate them. I love to read for fun, he hates it. I like to write creatively, it''s a chore for him.

But all in all, it works very well!
9.gif

VERY much alike; so much so, that we didn''t even like each other when we met!
9.gif

Working out well for us now, though.

Very similar! At first, I thought we had little in common. But the more I get to know him, I believe him when he says, "At the core, we''re the same person." It''s so romantic, really. The more layers get shed, the more I see we have the same heart. Awwwww... I can see how both could work, though.

In many ways we are the same. We both are very southern and very country. We have similar Irish traits, blond hair blue eyes, fair skin. We both love to do many of the same things like fish, hike, camp, hunt, atvs etc. He has grown up in an animal oriented household like myself. We both love country music, rivers, mexican food, water, fresh salad, airboats, boots, hats, bananas foster, pizza, tiramisu, candles, inscents, football, and grilled food. We both enjoy exercise, and traveling. We are both very family oriented, and we both have small close groups of friends. We both are not very religious, but celebrate Christmas, and Easter in a big way. We both enjoy growing things, picking our own fruit and vegetables, and cooking. Some of our differences:

he hates rock music and I enjoy some of it
he''s not in love with the ocean and I could live on the ocean
he doesn''t like to read, and I pour over books
I like mushrooms and he doesnt

minor things
