First, my thanks to the pricescope community for their invaluable assistance. Second, even bigger thanks to Jonathan and the staff at Good Old Gold. They are an absolute pleasure to do business with, and I would recommend them HIGHLY.
Now on to the good stuff...

I am considering these two stones, and would like everyones/anyones input.

A 1.28 E VS2 radiant, and a 1.44 G VS2 radiant. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I almost positive that I'm going with the 1.28 stone, but I would like opinions on both.

Again, my thanks.

Hmmm, well, they both look good.

The 1.28 has a much thicker girdle and deeper depth (it's actually .07mm deeper than the bigger stone), so it the size difference between them will be even greater than expected:

7.28 X 5.51 X 3. 98 vs. 7.63 X 6.16 X 3.91

The first one is also longer: 1:1.32 versus 1:1.24

The first one has a better brilliancescope report.

According to the cut chart at Gem Appraisers, the 1.28 has a much better crown angles but an overly large table, depth, and girdle, and the 1.44 has better table, depth, and girdle, but its crown angle is way off. Obviously the proof is in the pudding, though, because they both have good looking brilliance scopes.

I don't know, I might pick the 1.44 myself (G vs. E doesn't bother me, but you might want higher color). But both seem like good choices! You might email GOG and ask for an opinion.

Honestly, I see no reason why the G-VS would be better. The other stone has better color, cut and similar clarity. The difference in size is a fraction of a milimeter. No way 0.2 of a carat could compensate for all that the 1.28 does better than the other.

Both stones have pleasing proportions.

My opinion, of course.

Thanks for your replies/opinions. I have decided to go with the 1.28 E VS2 since it has a bit better performance, and is more retangular, which is preferred by my soon to be fiance. She knows the basics, but it's going to be the when that gets her. Now..it's time for part 2, the setting.

Thanks again.
