Hey guys. I was just wanting to get your opinions on this stone. Would the medium blue fluorescence impact the color in any way? And are the angles good? Thanks in advance!

Its a nice make of cut, larger table and longer girdle facets give it that splintery arrow look that I particularly like. There is a little leakage in the images but I doubt it is noticeable to the naked eye. All in all I think it has possibilities. Med blue fluorescence to me is a nice addition to an H colour.

Check it is eyeclean to your standards also.

It''s cut leans more toward brilliance, with a little less fire. Also, with a table that size, it "could" have a slightly glassy appearance, and a little less scinitlation. If you are just wanting a nice make, it will still be better than many stones out there.

If you are wanting a slightly better balanced stone, I would suggest either of these. (if eyeclean)

Ok, Ellen I have a couple questions regarding the second stone you posted. Will the med florescence make an I appear more "white". And I looked at the GIA inclusion chart and noticed several rather large red lines. Are those twinning wisps? What exactly is a twinning wisp and are they likely to be eye visible? And, if I get an I am I likely to notice a color difference between the center stone and smaller stones on the band. I''m really liking the 3 row domed pave style from whiteflash and I''m thinking the color of the diamonds are an F or G. I''m just worried that an I will appear more yellowish compared to the other stones. Although those are so small I''m not sure I''d be able to tell. But I must say I''m loving the size of this diamond. Up till now I hadn''t wanted to go lower than an H but if I can get that much bigger of a stone and not be able to tell a difference in color I''d definitely go with an I. Thank you for your opinions!

Hi Laura,

It is said that it takes Strong to Very Strong flourescence to affect the brightness of a somewhat lower colored stone. However, each stone is unique, and where the flo is located in the stone plays a part too. So while I will say that it probably will not have an impact, that's not written in stone ( no pun intended lol). I would ask WF if they feel it is having any positive affect on it.

Yes, the inclusion plot is showing twinning wisps, a small feather, and a cloud. There have been a few discussions on twinning wisps here. I'd say the majority of experts like them as far as inclusions go in general. But again, inclusions are all unique, in color and location. Many tw's are not visable, so don't let the plot scare you. You just need to have someone at WF look the stone over very carefully. And let them know what you do, or do not want to see. Clarity is graded in the face up position, so one "could" see something from the side, though many times an SI1 can be totally eyeclean from all angles/distance. If that is what you'd prefer, not to see anything from any angle, just let them know.

This is a short and to the point definition of a tw from one of the experts on here:

Twinning wisps result from crystal distortion during growth. They're flat or ribbon-like cloudy areas, often radiating out from the diamond's center.


The general rule on color of sidestones to center is 2 color grades either way. But you're right, in very small stones, I don't think 3 grades would matter, WF can tell you if it's making a big difference. But I bet it would be just fine. Many gals on here have gone with that type of difference.


As for an I color, there is not a lot of difference between that and an H, in well cut stones. And there is the key word, cut. That makes all the difference in how much warmth will or will not show in a stone. I can assure you, this stone will not look yellow, at most maybe what you'd call winter white. If you would like to get an idea in person, we often reccommend going to a jeweler that carries Hearts on Fire to look at the different color grades. They are better cut stones, and more representitive of this stone you're looking at. If you do this, make sure you look at them in natural light, like by a window. and look at them seperately. Side by side, you may be able to tell a difference, but it's the stone by itself that you need to focus on, and in that instance, you may not see anything.

At first I was thinking of going with H for sure but now that I can get a larger well cut I, I think I just might go with that.
