Hello,
Here are two stones I''m considering. I''m leaving out size and color because I''m trying to learn more about cuts and what makes folks think one is better than the other when the specs are so close (rather than going by size, clarity or color):
Diamond 1
Table Percentage: 56.91%
Depth Percentage: 61.74%
Crown ∠: 34.49°
Crown Depth: 14.92%
Pavilion ∠: 40.80°
Pavilion Depth: 43.10%
Upper Girdle ∠: 40.38°
Lower Girdle ∠: 42.01°

Diamond 2
Table Percentage: 55.59%
Depth Percentage: 62.00%
Crown ∠: 35.01°
Crown Depth: 15.53%
Pavilion ∠: 40.50°
Pavilion Depth: 42.66%
Upper Girdle ∠: 43.15°
Lower Girdle ∠: 41.67°

thanks in advance,
spike

You don''t mention what the girdles are, but on quick look I''d go with #1. Both have potential though.

I would prefer the first one, I like that angle combo better. Great specs so far, but you also don''t list Pol, Sym, Cut grade and diameter. So to truly evaluate the diamond, we''d need all that and the girdle %.

Ditto.

Here is more information. I''m debating how I feel about going down in color and clarity to get something larger. I know on this board lots of folks like to go bigger, but I''m not sure if bigger matches my lifestyle. I''m ok with the fluorescence is diamond 1.

Right now I''m just trying to figure out which would be the better cut and wondering why people would pick one over the other (excluding the other 3 Cs).
thanks again!

Why don''t you ask for a video?

I still like the first one better, but I would make sure the strong flo isn't affecting it negatively. I doubt it, but it's prudent to ask.

And I am not a size girl myself, so I think it's a lovely size!

And, you could always follow Julie's suggestion.

Will they do videos if you ask?

ETA: I should have said - WOW! I didn't know they'd do videos if you asked. LOL. I will do that then.

I put that one on hold but I also just pinged Rhino and asked if he could do a video - which would be super cool since he points out so much I don''t think I''d ever be able to see on my own.

Just to help me learn, what is it about the Diamond 1 that people like better in terms of cut?

And spike, Lorelei and I like the crown/pavillion relationship better. (which is the real driving factor in a diamond's performance)

I think the first diamond is better cut however I am a size girl and I would go with the second diamond if it is in the same price range.

First off, can I just say that jonathon at GOG is wonderful to deal with, especially as a first time buyer.

He made a video of 3 different diamonds. The one I put on hold is the 1.32 ct/G/VS2/str flr.

So...now I just have to decide which one.

Yep, Jon is great. And I''d get the one you already have on hold, it''s gorgeous!

Do you mind strong flour?

No I don''t mind it, in fact I see it as a possible added bonus.
