Hi all!
My boyfriend agreed that I could choose the diamond for my e-ring, so I have been lurking on PS on and off for the past few months for ideas. I came across pictures of AVRs and fell in love! I currently have one on reserve and had it compared in video with another I was interested in. Now I can't decide! The more I think of it, the more indecisive I become. I would love to hear opinions from anyone on this forum!

Main concerns:
Price - The reserved diamond is $1,500 less than the other. They both are in our budget, but of course it would be nice to spend less.
Size - There is a difference of .2mm in diameter, which I definitely feel is noticeable in the video. My ring size is 6.5.
Clarity - I was told by GOG that both were "eye-clean." I don't think that clarity is that big a factor for me, but at the same time I'm not 100% sure what the inclusions on the AGS reports will look like to me in person.

I would appreciate any comments from anyone! I know that this is ultimately my decision, but it would be nice to hear someone else's opinions. They are both returnable, but I would like to avoid it if possible. Thanks so much for looking!

-Jenn

Wow. In the video they both look great, but they also look very similar to each other. I'm not sure that I see $1,500 worth of price value going with the new one if that makes sense. My only reservation about the first stone would be the J color, but as I said, it looks very similar to the I in the video. Do you have a setting picked out? Would the extra $1,500 be best spent on a great setting? If it were me, I'd probably save the $1,500, but it's your choice obviously!

Hi, lucky you!!! :appl: You may be aware that I recently sent for an I color AVR to look at. I could see the tint in the I compared to my G diamond, and I knew that I color would be my lowest possible color in an AVR. In addition, I can SEE the size difference in these two stones. The SI1 would have to be totally eyeclean for me, but assuming it is, there is no question that the I color and larger size are absolutely worth $1500!!! I think you'll regret it later if you don't go for the larger, higher color stone.

What kind of setting are you thinking about?

Thanks for the reply! I do feel like they're similar color-wise too!

I just looked up the AVR you sent for and wow it's gorge! Yeah, I can see the size difference in my video and I have to admit that is becoming more and more important in my decision.

I actually have no say in the setting or the price of the setting. That will be a secret until he proposes. Personally, I love simple bezel settings, but who knows what I will get. I think I'll be happy with anything as long as it's an AVR :p

Thanks for the input guys!!!!

Well, I can understand him wanting some element of surprise, but I reeeeeaaaallly recommend that you provide him 5 pictures of rings you like just so he has some idea of YOUR taste. There is a lot of latitude to go wrong! :errrr: And you will be the one wearing the ring!

I totally agree! Trust me... I have sent him plenty of pictures! So hopefully he'll get the point, but "technically" it's up to him. I just need to let him feel like it was all his idea. :p

Gotcha!!! Can't wait to see it!

I can really see the size difference. I can also see the color difference side by side but on there own probably
wouldn't make much difference to me. I would go with the larger one if in budget.

0.2mm is significant difference, at least to me. If both are within budget, I would drfinitely go for the larger and higher color one.

Thanks for the replies PSers! Good thing I asked for a comparison vid. Most of you have confirmed my thoughts on the size. I think I may go w/ the 1.25 after all. I'll be sure to post pics when the diamond comes in!

I'm with the majority as well.... the 1.25 I SI1 as the one to choose. So... reserve it now (shows as available as of a moment ago) so no lurkers swoop it out from under you!

Exciting to have 1/2 of the ring chosen.. here's hoping he goes for your most favourite ering design!

If you have the choice, then I would agree too - larger size and higher colour!

I can't wait to see how it gets set!

Thanks a lot! I didn't even think to reserve it now. You guys really are the most savvy jewelry buyers!!! It's reserved as well! :D

Both stones are beautiful, but I agree with the majority here - the larger stone with an I colour is the way to go. ;))

Love the fact that GOG also prepared a comparison video for you!

PHEW!! :appl: I'd hate to see you lose it after all the time and effort, to someone else. Glad it's yours

Ditto on the larger I SI1...if in your budget get that one...lucky you!
