opinions please? .9 H or a larger <=K ??

I have a diamond on its way to my house.... Its an H color VS2 .9 pear (just some of the specs, overall though a good stone). And now that its on its way I am just wondering if i made the right choice, im so indecisive!!!! :rolleyes: . What I plan on doing with it is setting it in a prong set halo with a plain non plated WG band. I thought I was SET, i LOVE the setting and a .9 seemed sufficiently large to me. But the more I think the more a second ring sounds like something I really really would like. My other idea would be a YG bezel setting. If it didnt have a halo to increase the % coverage i would want to go bigger,so i would use a 1.2 or so k or lower pear stone (great cut and clarity etc) Im leaning toward this now because my 7.25 finger (IMO) needs a lot of coverage for me to feel happy with the ring. Im self conscious of my finger size compared to other people I know (i know its normal size but just bear with me ;) )

Do you think thats too low a color grade for a ER? Would the finger coverage even change much going up to a 1.2? I dont really know how much a color grade really matters or is shown if the rest of the Cs are top notch. I guess I just was hoping some of you fine folks would talk me though it! And pics would be helpful
 
I think it's too low a color grade for a pear. A pear will concentrate color in the tip, and it will be noticeable in a K.
 
I agree. I think K is too low for a pear. H is good and maybe I. That's as low as I'd consider.
 
The h I'm getting seemed like it didn't have much of a color in the tip from the pictures I received. I had posted a thread about it but didn't really get any help. It looks good to ME which I think is really all that matters I'm just so conserned about this dreaded " bow tie effect" when I actually see it in person. I saw an I at like 1.15 ct at my price point that fit all my criteria but the site would have to get me pictures sense it didn't have any right away. Most sites seems like don't have the actual photos of pears before someone requests it.
I probably should just stick with my original idea. This site just makes a girls mind wander
 
Pears are nicely spready. And in a halo you will get MUCH more coverage than with a bezel. Plus a K is too low, IMO, for a pear. I would keep the H.
 
I own an H round stone, and I think it's a great balance of color to budget/size. But K is several color grades lower than H. K is to H as H is to E. That's a big jump. You will see a lot of color in a K, especially in a fancy cut. Wait for your H, see how you feel about the size. 7.5 is not an abnormally large finger. The average size is somewhere around 6-7, and it tends to be increasing with the size of the population. It used to be that the "in stock" rings were all size 6, now they seem to be mostly 7. You were given a lot of good tips about stones that face up large for the carat weight, and which may not be "trendy" cuts, including marquise and ovals. Evaluate your pear, and maybe keep in mind another shape (I still think a fat marquise would be fantastic, and very cost-effective).
 
As I said in my original post in aware my finger size is average but that doest change the fact in self conscious about it. And as for other shapes looks like you've read my other posts as well. :). Frankly marquis really don't apeal to me and ive just fallen in love with the pear shape. K is a lot of color I know that. Sounds like it is emphasized by the cut, which I did not know. I'm just trying to use this forum as a way to explore my options. I like a bezel set and being YG seems like it would kind of add to the stones color instead of WG that would emphasize it. Which was why I was considering it. I don't really like white stones, even h colored ones, in a yellow gild setting, personally


I'll just see how I feel when the stone comes tomorrow. I'm pretty excited
 
I would stick with the H and halo it.
