Opinions on two diamonds

Hi,

I have two diamonds and I put them through the HCA, one in EX cut and other is VG but the VG seems better under the HCA.

Diamond #1

Depth: 61.8 %
Table: 58 %
Crown Angle: 35.5°
Crown Height: 15 %
Pavilion Angle: 41.2°
Pavilion Depth: 43.5 %
Star length: 55 %
Lower Half: 75 %
Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted
Culet: None

HCA : 4.5

Diamond #2

Depth: 61.3 %
Table: 58 %
Crown Angle: 34°
Crown Height: 14 %
Pavilion Angle: 41.2°
Pavilion Depth: 43.5 %
Star length: 50 %
Lower Half: 80 %
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None

HCA: 3.1

The 2nd diamond is VG.

Should I even consider these or should I do futher analysis by observing them?

The first diamond is what we call a steep deep with the crown and pav angles, GIA Excellent cut grade is broad and can allow for these combos which may be lesser performers - pass on that one. The second diamond looks to have better balanced angles, so I would ask for an Idealscope image of this diamond, especially as it has a steeper pavilion angle, these don't always score so well on the HCA, but an Idealscope image would be very helpful to get a better idea.

Do you have the polish and symmetry grades for the second diamond?

Do you have any others in mind?

#1 is a waste of time, # 2 could be OK if it is paitned a bit and or has great optical symmetry, but we need more info to tell

The HCA is intended to eliminate lesser performers, it isn''t used for selecting stones - I am only a consumer but I have seen the HCA be of great help to many over the years if used in the right way.. So bascially the aim is to score 2 or below then evaluate these with Idealscope and trusted vendor/ appraiser input.
