Hello,

I’m looking at this 2.9ct yellow sapphire from Jeff Davies. I am not familiar with buying sapphires. Is there anything about this one that I should be aware of? To my eye it looks pretty but I need expert opinions :)

Thank you.

Looks beautiful. It seems similar to my little one and such a colour is very vibrant and glowy. Jeff Davies is a top cutter and Lotus is a top lab so I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it. I do believe that on the off chance you don’t love it, Jeff accepts returns.

Thank you @Bron357 Im so pleased you like it. Do you have a picture of your yellow sapphire? I would love to see it.

Wow!! Thank you for sharing that photo. It’s gorgeous! Are you planning on setting it?

I acquired a once in a lifetime treasure trove of gemstones nearly two years ago. So far only two gems have been set.

Why is it green on the Lotus report?

I'd request a natural outside light video just to check the colour.

I remember reading about your exciting find! The stones you have set are beautiful

@T L and @mellowyellowgirl

I noticed that but didn’t ask because the actual report lists the sapphire as yellow. I’ve sent Jeff an email to ask about it :))

I learned this very important lesson with buying jade.

Check it in all the lights! Especially natural light. Make sure the light they use is normal and not nice studio lights. Then go and check it across a bunch of devices to see the colour!!!

Great advice! Thank you.

My blue Zircon (in my avatar) is from Jeff. It’s exactly the same in person as on the video/photos I saw from him. I really hope this sapphire is the same.

The Lotus People (Ha!) are the most picky about printing images of precious stones - at least in the books. I expect less from reports (perhaps just because I have had no reason to keep up with printing tech as they have...) & nothing much from pictures of reports - as printed paper plays with light rather differently than faceted crystals.

So you think I shouldn’t rely on the photo on the report? I’ve messaged Jeff and asked for a video. Waiting to hear back from him.

Hi,

The stone looks beautiful.

Annette

I heard back from Jeff. He said that there is absolutely no green in the sapphire. It would say that on the grading report. It only says yellow. I will post photos when it arrives :)
