opinions on this stone

I just saw this stone at a local jewelers today. I think it looked great, but it scored a 2.7 on the HCA. The jeweler is asking $1585

It seriously sparkles like crazy, so should I be concerned about the low HCA score?.

HCA is a rejection tool, not a selection. There will be stones that score above 2 that still perform well. If you checked it out in a variety of lighting and loved the sparkle, then I say trust your eyes and go for it. It's a little deep so you lose some spread, but the angles aren't bad. Is there a return policy in case you get it out of the store and it loses some life?

I believe there's a return policy on the stone but once we have it set, they said there wouldn't be BC it's a custom ordered setting. Need to get some more clarification on that, on whether the stone to be returned as long as we keep the setting...

Can you buy the stone (unmounted) and check it out under lots of different lighting situations to make sure it performs decent?
Return if you're not happy with it.
