So after making a thread wondering if I could go with an I stone, I spoke to James at WF and he convinced me to go for a J stone! I can''t believe it. But it''s an ACA and after seeing all the Js and Ks around here, I figured it would work. James assures me that it will not be a problem next to the F/G melee. Right now I''m just waiting on the results of an eye clean test and some photos, in the meantime, your opinions please:

I pretty much think all ACA''s are great! But only you will know your color tolerance. I would feel better with an I color myself, but I think you''ll have to see it yourself to know.

I agree w/the above. Keep us posted; sounds like a beautiful stone!!! ACA''s are beautiful!!!

Moonwater -- This looks like a fabulous diamond. No doubt about it.

Providing that WF confirms that it is eyeclean and you know that the cut is top notch b/c it''s an ACA, my only hesitation or concern is, as stated above by DS and Skippy, that you will be comfortable with the J color.

You mention that you''ve seen the beautiful J''s & K''s on Pricescope but have you been able to venture out and see any well cut J''s & K''s in a real life setting and under varying light conditions? I don''t say this to dissuade you from getting this gorgeous ACA, I suggest this so that you can become more confident or at ease with this purchase. If you are able to confirm that you are "all good" with J then you''re golden but if you confirm that you are not, then you know that you have to keep looking.

Quite honestly though ... don''t feel too much pressure to decide b/c you should be able to receive it and return it or trade it for something else with WF given that you receive the stone and it is not exactly what you were looking for.

Good luck with your choice!

Thanks everyone! I actually don''t know how color sensitive I am. I went through the entire J stones in platinum thread and it made me feel more confident. Obviously, it''s better to see stones in person, but I can''t think of any B&M store that has well cut stones. Perhaps I should take a trip to Jared''s, I know they have the peerless stone now, maybe they have a J. One thing I keep in mind is that my stone will be bezel set into a halo so I will only be able to view it well from the top. Most people say from the top down it''s very hard to tell a J from any other stone in the near colorless category. Also, James assured me I would not see the difference between the center stone and the F/G melee. Considering I was pretty adamant about going no lower than H just to ensure the colors would go well, I don''t think he''d convince me of a J if he wasn''t sure it wouldn''t be noticeable.

That aside, Sparkalicious, you''re right. I could always trade the stone up. The only issue is that it will be set into a custom halo ring and folks here said it could be a problem resetting a new stone. But maybe WF would be able to do a successful job anyway. I''ll inquire about this possibility the next time I talk to James.

Thanks again for your opinions!

You''re welcome, Moonwater!

Given limited options, despite the fact that some people love them and others don''t, I would say Jared would be a great choice. After all, you won''t be purchasing there ... you just want to got an learn some stuff and play with their diamonds.

They do carry AGS certed stones, or at least they do at the one I have been to, so I would absolutely suggest going in and asking them to take a peek at some ... They may not have J color stones, however, they will have some in the H, I range so that you can make sure you are more than good with those.

When I''ve been in to visit their staff has always been friendly, professional, fun and informative ... Maybe it''s because my expectations have been low but I''ve always been pleasantly surprised by them.

Have fun if you do go and I can''t wait to see your diamond and ring once you''re able to make a final decision.

I actually have a tennis bracelet from Jared''s that''s due for a cleaning. I''m hoping we can go tomorrow but the bf has been sick with the flu so it''s up in the air. Thanks again for your advice!

That stone looks beautiful. WF also has, in their "Expert Collection" a 0.91 I SI1. If you are concerned about color consider that one.

Don''t be confused by the term "color sensitive". There are many of us who can tell the difference between a D,E,F,G,H,I,J with no problem. We are sensitive to the colors. But we prefer a warmer color to get a larger stone. And the difference between a beautifully cut I or a beautifully cut J is minimal enough that we''ll take the J and and get little extra weight.

Hi swingirl, thanks for pointing that stone out. I actually brought that to WF attention along with 2 other stones just in case this first one doesn''t work out (please let it work out!!). I''m pretty happy with the J for now. Unless it looks insanely yellow, I don''t think it will be an issue. I''ve seen far too many super white Js on pricescope. It''s unbelievable how white they are. So, I''m keeping my fingers crossed because I''m unbelievably excited about getting my hands on an ACA!!

MoonWater - I consider myself color sensitive, and I do prefer the more colorless stones.

That said I purchased a .78 J VS2 ACA from WF. I nearly cancelled it before it arrived because I thought ''What am I doing? I like D''s for goodness sake!''

Let me say I was blown away! It looks SO white! I can only detect creaminess in some lighting situations. I love it! I think in a larger stone it would be more obvious, but I absolutely love mine!

Good luck and let us know what you think.

Thanks angeline! You''re making me feel really good about this. I''m so excited!

Ok, I went to Jared''s and checked out a well cut I. It looks really good. I can''t imagine the J will be an issue. I felt sorry for the sales guy, he was so helpful and I knew I wasn''t going to buy anything. However, I discovered a great Tacori wedding band in the process, if I can''t find it cheaper, maybe I''ll buy from them.

Ok everyone, feel free to get your final words in about the stone. It may be purchased today if WF gets back to me! I''m nervous and excited at the same time.

Pics are included now. WF is working on a comparison shot with the J in the middle of an G and H.

Stone now with pictures

I don''t think you can tell a thing about color from pictures. You''ll really have to see it in person in your lighting environment to know if you like the warmth. All ACA''s are great stones, it''s just a matter of color preference. I hope you love it!

I hope I love it too because I gave the go ahead lol. I would imagine it would look more white in person than in a still photo. Here''s the comparison shot (looks a little crappy because I had to resize in Paint):
