I would appreciate any opinions on this garnet with dimensions of 10.55 x 9.09 x 6.15 mm.
I saw a video too and the cut (precision, according to vendor) is very sparkly. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately, I am so hesitant about even the most gorgeos-looking garnets online (which this one is) because all garnets I have seen so far IRL face up quite dark.
They tend towards brown-ish.
If this stone maintained this color IRL, it would be fabulous - exactly what I am looking for.
The cut is excellent too. But the vendor is using some serious ligting on this one.
I love the purple/raspberyy/grape garnets (not orangey-brown)
- but the trick is to get one that stays colorful and vibrant in larger sizes.
Looks very pretty to me, and well-cut. You are right to be cautious though, as garnets do tend to be shifty creatures. I've found the best thing to do is ask lots of good questions. Ask whether it shifts in different lights (many/most do) and what colors it shifts to. You might also ask to see a hand shot, so that you can confirm what it looks like in normal lighting against skin.
I saw a video too - seems nice but it was made in good lighting. The vendor was in fact reluctant to sell it when he heard I might have to return if it doesn't fit in old setting...but considering how difficult it is to find a stone that fits precisely in a setting, I might redo the setting altogether.
