Wanting to put something like this on a Michael B princess setting (micropave one sided beaded setting):

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2319/

Was wondering if the J color would look yellow at all. I''ve never seen a J but it seems like GOG carries good diamonds and it seems like the other images on the brilliance scope look good as well as ideal polish, symmetry, etc.

My main concern is the color as I don''t want the solitaire to look yellow compared to the micropaved diamonds. The idea of having a J color doesn''t bother me as long as the diamond looks white. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I love J color diamonds in smaller sizes and its a ok trade off in larger sizes to get a bigger diamond is my 2c

cut wise its a very nice diamond.

Here are some stones I was looking at...any opinions. Seems like they''re all well cut as most are it seems from GOG. Any thing to beware of here?...

2.014 ct H/SI2 H and A Round--$17,000

1.756 J/VS1 H and A Round--$12,000

2.02 I/SI1,H and A Round(kind of weary about this one due to the black occlusion that seems to appear from the top in the pic)
$17,000

2.468 J/VVS1, H and A round--$23,000

Want to put one of these or similar diamonds (from 1.7 ct to 2.5 ct. on a Michael B princess solitaire with one sided micropave in a bead like setting (not v-cut)).

bigE, if you haven't seen a J, I'd go looking. Find a Hearts On Fire dealer, or other well cut branded diamond dealer and look. While great cut hides tint better, it doesn't make it go away. Not long ago, a guy ordered an H Isee2, had it set in a custom setting, got it, and hated it. He felt he could see the tint even in an H. Please go look first.

I think that looks like a stunning stone. Seriously, a well cut J is reeeeeally hard to tell. It looks like you can get an awesome size and some killer sparkle with that one! I have a J vs1 myself, and love it!

bigE, I agree with Ellen. If you haven't seen well-cut J's in person, take a look at them first to see if you mind the color. Of the stones you posted, I don't like the depth on three of them, all but the 2.468 J/VVS1. The J/VVS1 has nice numbers, but I personally wouldn't pay for such high clarity. Are you set on GOG stones or are you considering other vendors?

BigE, I personally would rather have a smaller H or I color stone than a J or lower. The J stone will be beautiful from the top, but there may be some tint from the side. Color preference is very personal and our likes and dislikes may not match your gf''s at al. What I did was tell Jonathan what I was looking for and he located stones from his suppliers that met my specifications. If I were looking for a stone the size you are looking for, I''d ask to see H and I, VS2 and very eye clean SI1''s. But again, only you and she can really know what your color and clarity preferences are. Did you look at the section on color in the 4C''s on the GOG site? They do a great job showing the color factor.

Thanks Kim N, I like that 2.3 ct I/VS2 from pricescope. Makes sense what you said that you wouldn''t pay the extra for the VVS1, when you probably can''t distinguish it from the VS2. I didn''t know there was a PS discount. I''m obviously on PS but how do you get the "discount?"

Just mention it if you buy a stone from WF. Other vendors have wire discounts. Those prices are usually posted on the vendor websites.
