Hi all. I was hoping to get some informed opinions on a stone. The cut is "good," but the HCA gives it a 3.2, with:

Light Return Good
Fire Very Good
Scintillation Very Good
Spread or diameter for weight Excellent

It''s a spready diamond, so it give a nice, large appearance. Here''s it''s info. Please tell me what you think. I''m actually willing to spend more, but I''m wondering what I''m getting to upgrade to a bigger stone with similar dimensions. Is it worth the extra $2000 or so (this one''s The price is $6800).

The GIA cert states:

carat weight: 1.25
measurements: 7.25 x 7.35 x 4.01mm
color: F
Clarity: VS2
Cut grade: Good

polish: good
symmetry: good
Flourescence: none

Depth: 54.9%
Table: 61%
Crown angle: 30.5
pavilion angle: 40.4

Any opinions or suggestions?

Thanks!

3.2 HCA on a shallow stone? pass.

GIA has grades "excellent" and "very good" in before "good." So "good" is actually quite bad...

I agree with passing on this one. You want a diamond to perform beautifully not just have a big spread for its size. Go with an ideal cut.

YUCK

Read this link Advanced Tutorial so you can see what to look for and the importance of proportions. That depth % is scary

ETA - this diamond would be a far better choice as an example of a great cut.

I just realized that that faces up more like a 1.4-1.5
