Hello everyone..

This site is so informative and everyone seems to be so helpful. I have learned a lot from reading all of your posts, but am no where near any of your expertise! Please give an opinion on this diamond and let me know if I am getting close. I want something close to a 1.25ct Princess. I am fine with the color of an H, and learned on here that if you are going to go with SI1 to get a larger stone that the cut needs to be excellent (or ideal?). I found this one and was wondering if there is anything I missed? Does this stone look okay? Or does anyone have any suggestions on another one close to this size?

Thanks !

too deep! It's possible to get 5.6 mm out of 1.00 carats. an AGS ideal H SI1 1 ct would cost about that much. so what do you want, the ideal 1 ct that looks like a 1 ct? or do you really want 1.2 cts?

Thanks Julie, I was hoping you would respond.

I want more than 1ct, but I understand that if I don''t get the right cut then it won''t look like more. I only have $5000 and wanted to get as close to 1.25 as I can. Any suggestions?

I also have another question which is probably stupid. If I can''t find the right setting with the same vendor that has the diamond, do I order them seperately and have them set with a local vendor?

Thanks for your patience ! I am such a newbie at this!

buy the setting, have it sent to who sold you the diamond.

Okay - back to the drawing board. So far I am not having any luck..

The original ring I got ended up having a chip in it and after much hassle with the crappy vendor I was finally able to return it for a refund. And that is only because I got the name of a great appraiser off of this site who did a fantastic job of documenting everything so they couldn''t argue anymore. I didn''t know what I was doing when I picked that one out and now am a little gun shy and worried about making the wrong choice again.

Thanks again Julie! I welcome any suggestions you may have.

Sheri

Wow! Now I completely get what you were saying! I compared all of those to the one I had, in addition to the first one I asked about and I finally understand (duh!). The Whiteflash one at 1.04ct would actually look bigger than the 1.20 that was too deep. I can''t thank you enough for that info! Should I be concerned about the SI2 though? Can''t the inclusions generally be seen in those?

Many SI2s are not eye-clean. But there are some that are, and it doesn''t cost you anything to find out, so ask the vendor. In certain lighting situations, the inclusions may be more noticeable.

there are definitely eye clean si2''s out there. don''t limit yourself with clarity.

I don''t know much about princess cuts (only what I''ve seen from Julie''s posts

) but that one from WF looks like a good find if eye clean! Good luck

I keep looking at this one to try to figure out what is wrong with it. I definately like the price. I thought maybe the table was too big, but it is comparable to WF one Julie picked out - Julie if you see this can you look and see if this stone is okay? Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Sheri

that is a virtual stone, of which nothing is really known about it. the diamond julie picked out is an ags graded diamond that has an accompanying idealscope image showing great optical symmetry and little light leakage.

I knew there had to be something!

So if it is a "virtual stone" this means they may or may not have it? Or it means it is just an example?

a virtual stone means that the vendor does not own it. That same stone is available to many vendors. Your vendor can call it in but many times it''s just easier and more cost effective to try and find a stone that the vendor already has "in house" owns.

Julie,

This is what White Flash told me on the one you sent:

The diamond is eye clean, the inclusions are white and in the center

I am gathering from what I have read on here that I can trust what they say. I think this will be the one I go with.

I can''t thank you enough!!

Sheri

well done sheri.
gotta love those white inclusions!

the first and last links are the same

at any rate...i would choose the 1.041 j/si with the ags light performance report. you simply can not go wrong with that.

I thought I was losing it.. haha

No, the first link ends with 8717 and the last one ends with 8716..

I am liking the price on the J... just worried it will look yellowish. The girl said "Due to the cut, the diamond will face white. It will look more like an I-H in color."
Does that sound right?

i would still consider the ''j'' my friend just recently purchased an ags0 j/vs from wf that is amazing. she absolutely loves it. i don''t think anyone would ever guess that it is a ''j''. it''s beautiful!
