Okay, I think we''ve found the stone... It''s a 3.15 ct cushion cut. And it''s absolutely gorgeous. I saw it in person over the weekend, and it''s so incredibly stunning. My one fear is that it''s an I1 clarity. The cut is perfect and it''s a G color... but I''m still a little bit nervous about the inclusions. The stone is from GOG (whom I love), and everyone is saying that it''s eye clean, but I''d still like some feedback. The pictures don''t exactly do it justice though....

Thank you!!

No doubt a beautiful stone! I would trust GOG but only you can decide what fits your own definitiion of eye clean. You'll have to see it. I bet the stone is a great buy! The only thing is- are you ok paying for a 3 ct stone but getting the physical size of a much smaller round or non H&A but modern cushion or even a princess of the same ct weight? Just make sure but other than that I bet it's lovely!

more,
I''ve seen the stone and was really impressed by it. I mean, obviously you can''t ignore the inclusions, but I honestly couldn''t really see them with my naked eye... But now you''ve got me thinking... is there a huge different between a 3 ct cushion and a 3 ct princess? I know the RB has the largest face, but does anyone have dimensions??

I *just* thought of this. Duh. What are the chances of you finding another stone that is an eye clean I1! Probably nil

*You need to look the price and see what other size stones are in your range. Maybe they will turn out to be roughly the same size (although lower ct weight) because beautiful I1s ain't growin on trees!*

That H&A cushion has a depth of 74. My modern cushion has a depth of 64. So that has a lot to do with it. Each stone is different, so you can't just say every round of X carat weight will be X much bigger than another stone of the same carat weight. The princess is also square so the round fits into the square even though they have the same diameter..the princess also has pointed corners that help it out in the size department. But if you were to put a 61 depth 3 ct round next to the 74 depth H&A cushion you'd see a huge difference. See what I'm getting at? Superior light return also helps to make the H&A cushion look bigger. I'm just saying it's a deep cut and you lose a lot of size. You gain other benefits from the H&A I suppose but I'm not all sbout the H&A

Although a lot of princess stones are as deep as that H&A cushion and your H&A cushion will outsparkle them all!
Forgetting about the i1 and how rare it is to find an eye clean I1, I wouldn't pay the extra money for the H&A b/c it is deep. I'd rather buy a round H&A. Regular ol cushions will not sparkle like the H&A...but that's not true of all cushions!

Mine included.

If you love the stone I don't want to cast doubt...but it is really small for its carat weight. The princess comes next. That is part of why I lost interest in the princess

I just got back from court for work and it was so hot I'm out of it. This makes no sense. Can someone help LOL

Here is a beautiful 2.45 G Si1 from GOG. Round H&A. 8.63X8.67. You can't just go on measurements alone b/c the square shape does help to make the stone look bigger...

more,
Thanks for the reply! You have given me a lot to think about... The depth of the stone definitely worries me a bit. Anyone else with cushions want to weigh in??? Please, I need all the advice I can get...

I''m not going to be able to sleep tonight

Oh no! I didn''t want to give you serious doubts about a stone you love. Have you looked to see the size of rounds or other cushions in your price range? You might end up with the same size stone b/c finding a great i1 is super super hard to near impossible. So in that case, you with the square H&A if you love it!

Personally, I would care more about visual size than the H&A. 74% is very deep. Without knowing pricing, it''s kind of hard to really advise. You''re probably paying a premium for the H&A, but getting a great discount because of the clarity. I have an antique-style cushion (definitely no H&A) and it is super sparkly.

Kateh - I think you answered your own question "...And it''s absolutely gorgeous. I saw it in person over the weekend, and it''s so incredibly stunning...", you have the biggest advantage out of all of us in that you have seen the stone and it obviously left an excellent impression on you. I say go with your gut and your eyes! Nothing we can say based upon numbers alone will mean more than what you have seen in person. Goodluck and let us know what you decide!
