This is certified by EGL Israel. I have read several PS threads and am aware of both the triumph and horror stories and pros/cons of EGL Israel. I figure even if it grades one grade lower in clarity and one or two lower in color, it is still a good price. Any opinions? We are also considering some asschers from chicagodiamondexchange, diamonds.com and dirtcheapdiamonds, and another cushion from diamondsonweb.

What would that price be?

Sorry, $1530.00. I like it because it has a spread a larger ct weight stone would have for much less.

I think that is a fair price...I think it's also a fair price for an F! You just have to see the stone to see if you like it...There is something to be said about a stone that faces up large!!!!

Just make sure they have a return policy if it appraises lower...

I think that sounds like a fair deal as long as you can return it if you dont like it. Have you seen it in person? In a variety of lighting situations? If it calls to you that is the most important thing.

No I have not seen it but they said they would send me a photo after the jewish holiday is over and they go back to work on Thursday. They do have a return policy of 30 days. They charge a 2.5% restocking fee if you pay with credit card which isn''t that much, although you would be out the appraisal cost if it apraised lower and cost to ship it back. They don''t charge a restocking fee if you pay by wire transfer.

Have you spoken with some of the PS vendors? I know GOG has some fantastic stones. I think youll get a great deal and a great stone that you can trust to be good.

Hi

Way to go!

It is my opinion that with a fancy you should decide what your comfort range is with respect to color and clarity, and then go for the stone with the BIGGEST spread in your price range!

I have seen examples of 1.7ct stones where the spread is smaller than my recently purchased 1.55ct. Needless to say, people are willing to pay more for a 1.7ct than for a 1.55ct even though it will look smaller.

This is where self education and PS come in and save you a lot! (As well as a good vendor!)

Edited to add - cut is also important together with spread. And don't forget the appearance of the stone. It may be a well cut and "spready" stone, but you may just not like how it looks. (Experience talking

Sounds good to me ... 'Bet it looks nice if those numbers are close to reality. If the seller does not do cut grading, you might find an IdealScope useful.

I don't know about those grades. Bot the price seems to give this one a go, even if it turns G-Si1 or so.

Just my 0.2. I sure hope to see the pictures once they come in!

I have contacted Good Old Gold, but I am doubtful they will find something with those specs or a notch down for that price. I will post the photo when they send it to me. I am also considering another diamond. How do you thinnk this one compares? It is an asscher instead of a cushion cut. This one is from www.diamond.com.
