Can you look at this asscher for me?

http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/jwl/746395489.html

I know the pictures are small, though, sorry. I''m thinking of looking at it and seeing if I can get the price down. Just for a fun, not expensive extra.

I sent an e-mail to them and asked for the stats. They said they would bring the papers when I go to look at it. I would have preferred it they sent the stats first.

Thanks.

I know I always assume the worst but it seems a tad dodgy that they can''t give you a few simple stats off the cert, unless you actually go and see the stone. If they were serious and honest about it, I would have thought they would be happy to disclose as much info that they can before you spend your time going to see it?

Thanks, Honey. I think they are just figuring they will "let me see the papers when I get there". I think lots of people who are not much into this don''t quite see the use for the numbers on it.

Well if the cert is IGI I don''t know how much that will help. It looks to be a bright-drop asscher with fab spread, decent symmetry, but is also either filthy or has a large table; it has a glassy look to it. Would they let you put down a deposit while you have it appraised?

Really with fancys, if your eyes like it, that''s most of what you need to know. See if you can visit some Daniel K asschers before seeing it so you have some perspective.

Good luck!

The IGI certificate doesn't really mean anything...so that coupled with the not great "glassy" looking pictures would cause me to pass quickly. Pricey for even for a used stone that could be a few clarity and color grades lower than they advertise!

If you really want to pursue it I second the independent appraiser prior to purchase.
