For 65k, I would not purchase a diamond with a feather, even a small one. Feathers are the one inclusion I don't accept, especially since it's close to the girdle. I'd keep looking some more!

I do really like the more traditional numbers though better than the first one.

Hmmm...being the owner of three stones with feathers on the girdle, this makes me a little biased, but I have to respectfully disagree, esp with a VS2 grading.

I have *never* had any problem with feathers, not even those on my BGD 2.656ct H Si2 nor my 3.50ct H Si2 pear (which I wear now almost on a daily basis). The third stone, a VS2, I've had since 2006 and used to wear all the time and I had it re-set 3 times, and not a single problem.

The only time that I think feathers are truly a problem is when they reach the surface.

The other issue is that when you get to larger stones, ie. 3ct and above, pickings are slim. Something has got to give. But at the end of the day, it's very much about one's own personal preference.

ETA: in the second stone Frankie picked, the feather is not even the grade-setting inclusion.

And in any case, that's what insurance is for, should something happen. Frankie, do you have insurance on your bling?

Yes, very true. It is really personal preference. Feathers are not "mind clean" for me. Others may not be bothered at all. I've had many reputable vendors tell me they are safe, but I can't get past them. However, if you don't mind Frankie, then it looks like a great stone with lovely numbers and a nice HCA score!

I am so curious to see how this big boy with a halo will look on your hand! I think your current one is PERFECTION on your finger.

Frankie
I would raise your communication concern with the vendor and ask what is the reason?
I worked with a highly regarded ps vendor in that region... at one point communication slowed and as an online customer you are sort of left wondering if they are still working for you or if you've fallen down the priority ladder.
to shorten the story it didn't get to the point where I more than began to feel concern.
Only later did I learn that my contact was actually home with the flu for a week but still took case of me!
I think itnworth an up front question; others had a good experience for a reason!

to be honest it wasn't a lack of communication or anything, it's more like the attitude and tone in the emails i receive from the vendor...

such as, i would ask for the office location to see the diamond, my email would ONLY be the address without any greetings or ANYTHING. it's borderline rude to me that there is absolutely no customer service courtesy, that's all... especially i'm looking for a rather large sized diamond?

It's smack dab in the middle of the holiday season, they are probably swamped and not giving much notice to pleasantries in email.

I've heard that one of the frequently mentioned NYC jewelers on here has something like a 4 week wait time going due to the season.
