That sounds like a good plan, explore and compare as many different diamonds as you can, this will give you a much better idea and would also be a good exercise to learn your size preferences too, I always think in fancy shapes you can go much larger than you can in a round, so look at some different shapes too and try some on which might be enlightening. We have had cases where ladies have tried on a shape they never would have thought would be for them, but once they saw it on the hand it was perfect. Have you considered an emerald cut at all? These can be so beautiful especially in the larger sizes. Ovals could be another option too.Date: 9/27/2009 3:05:51 PM

Lorelei thanks for fixing the link. It is some rock, I just do not know if it is 'THE' rock. You asked if I liked the crush ice look, it depends on the stone, some times no, sometimes yes. The bottom line is I really do not know what I want. A friend who has worked in the high end Jewelry and estate market for years (semi retired now) sent me the link. I am not sure I am willing to spend that much money. I am going to Vegas tomorrow and I hope to hit all the high end jewelers on the stripe. I would probably not buy from them unless it was a unique designed ring (do not mind replicating single stone type rings but intricate designs are best purchased from the original designer IMHO). I figure browsing in Vegas, will help me sort out what direction I want to go in. I am not sure if I want a 5ct or a more cocktail type ring. I started at 3.5 then 4 and now I some how find myself at 5. Am I suffering from shrinkage before I even have the ring?. I do also like the HW Sunflower ring with a 1.5 center stone and 2.5 cts of additional diamonds.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
Thats fine, let us know how you get on in Vegas and what you discover when looking at diamonds!Date: 9/27/2009 3:43:56 PM

I have tried on EC and though they are lovely they are not for me, I like a little more Jazz. I am going to look at ovals and also rounds. I have never gravitated to rounds but thought I would revisit them again. My E- ring is a 17+ year old radiant which I love. A good way to look at it is while I do not dislike any of these I prefer Frank Lloyd Wright to Louie Sulliivan, I prefer Art Deco to Art Nouveau, and I prefer squares to rounds. In theory I should like the ECs but they are a little understated for me. I will of course look at the bigger ones while I am out and about.
Thanks
