I am looking for my dream RHR. I would love an opinion on this stone, including price estimate if you have one. Thanks so much.

5.02 ct VS1 Color F

Depth: 68.3 %
Table: 68.1%
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick
Cutlet: None
Polish: VG
Symmetry: G
Flour: None
10.73 x9.12 x6,23

Thanks so much!!!

An impressive RHR!

Have you settled on these specs or are you wanting other suggestions?

I am very open. These are just the specs of a stone that is a possibility. It looks to be around 90K. I do not know if that is high or not. It is hard to find exact comparisons.
Yes, it will be "the Ring", one of the advantages of middle age.
Suggest Away!!!!
Thanks

That sounds like an exciting project!

I just wanted to mention that fancy cuts require a photo in order for people to give a meaningful opinion. You can''t just choose by the numbers when it comes to anything other than a round.

Is a radiant the only stone you are considering? I realize these stones are smaller than you''re looking for, but if I wanted a squarish stone, I''d look at these:

Anyway, these are examples of stones that have good photos and have been examined for light performance, etc. Jonathan doesn''t have any large radiants at the moment, but if you called, he could call in some for you.

I am also considering a square cushion. I looked at a 4 ct yesterday. VVVS1 J. It was OK but not the stone.
It is a fun project.
Here is a link to the radiant. Do not bother about the setting as I would reset it. http://www.sothebys.com/app/live/lot/LotDetail.jsp?lot_id=159552907.

thanks again

, I will just fix the link to take a look for you.

Its a fabulous ring, the radiant looks to be of the ' crushed ice' type appearance, is that what you want? Its hard to tell much by the photos as they aren't that clear, but it certainly appears to be an impressive radiant! Have you looked at any others and is this the type you want?

With a purchase of this magnitude it would definitely be a good idea to make any sale final on a positive report from an independant appraiser as below, but I don't think this would be possible as the ring is for sale at auction, however maybe it would be possible to have an appraiser look before the auction commences at the ring's location.

independant appraiser.

Lorelei thanks for fixing the link. It is some rock, I just do not know if it is "THE" rock. You asked if I liked the crush ice look, it depends on the stone, some times no, sometimes yes. The bottom line is I really do not know what I want. A friend who has worked in the high end Jewelry and estate market for years (semi retired now) sent me the link. I am not sure I am willing to spend that much money. I am going to Vegas tomorrow and I hope to hit all the high end jewelers on the stripe. I would probably not buy from them unless it was a unique designed ring (do not mind replicating single stone type rings but intricate designs are best purchased from the original designer IMHO). I figure browsing in Vegas, will help me sort out what direction I want to go in. I am not sure if I want a 5ct or a more cocktail type ring. I started at 3.5 then 4 and now I some how find myself at 5. Am I suffering from shrinkage before I even have the ring? :-). I do also like the HW Sunflower ring with a 1.5 center stone and 2.5 cts of additional diamonds.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

That sounds like a good plan, explore and compare as many different diamonds as you can, this will give you a much better idea and would also be a good exercise to learn your size preferences too, I always think in fancy shapes you can go much larger than you can in a round, so look at some different shapes too and try some on which might be enlightening. We have had cases where ladies have tried on a shape they never would have thought would be for them, but once they saw it on the hand it was perfect. Have you considered an emerald cut at all? These can be so beautiful especially in the larger sizes. Ovals could be another option too.

I have tried on EC and though they are lovely they are not for me, I like a little more Jazz. I am going to look at ovals and also rounds. I have never gravitated to rounds but thought I would revisit them again. My E- ring is a 17+ year old radiant which I love. A good way to look at it is while I do not dislike any of these I prefer Frank Lloyd Wright to Louie Sulliivan, I prefer Art Deco to Art Nouveau, and I prefer squares to rounds. In theory I should like the ECs but they are a little understated for me. I will of course look at the bigger ones while I am out and about.

Thanks
