Opinions on ladie''s Seiko watches?

I've been needing a watch, and cheap ones tend to not last with me. I once received a gold watch as a gift, though I can't remember the brand. It wasn't made very well, as the glass fell off and it had problems keeping up with the time (much like me! ha). I couldn't repair it if I wanted to, it's a mere memory now.

Are Seiko watches good, decent, neither for a basic watch?

Are they hardy, and long lasting? I'm hoping it could withstand basic water (rain, showers, etc.).

Hi,

My Seiko lasted 15 years - daily wear. I never had it maintenanced; just had the battery changed. It was the Rolex look-a-like. I loved it and would not have a problem buying another Seiko watch.

PS: The style you chose is lovely.

I loved my Seiko watch. I use past tense only because I unfortunately lost it, but it was well-made, sturdy, looked great, and comfortable. Totally recommend the brand. I think Citizen and maybe Bulova may be on par with Seiko too - I currently have a Citizen watch which I really like as well.

ETA: That first one is really similar to the Seiko I had (but mine had a black face and no detailing on the sides).

Seikos are wonderful watches! I loved both of mine when I had them. My first one was a battery one and lasted for 5 years. I was 15 when I got it and my mom upgraded me to my second one which was kinetic and didn't need a battery. We purchased our Seikos when we were in Japan so it wasn't too bad pricewise back then. I did have a bit of a problem on my 2nd Seiko though. Since it was kinetic, it was suppose to use my movement as a power source (or something like that). I may have moved way too much since after 3 years the time kept going ahead of itself. So for now, I'm back to battery watches and I'll probably buy myself another Seiko when I'm in Asia. The ones I've liked have been quite pricey here in the States. But overall, I highly recommend them.

Seikos are very good watches, though sadly they''re looked down upon in the US as being cheap. They are one of the few watch companies that manufacturer their entire watches in house.

The ladies watches are pretty hardy, though the mans watches have a much heavier crystal (I have an orange monster for outdoors stuff

I have a seiko that I have worn daily for the past three years. I don''t shower with it on, but I''m sure it would be fine. I absolutely love it. It is the gold and silver kind with a white face, hasn''t scratched, it can be dressy or casual, and give seiko high recommendations!

ive been collecting watches for a long time-have been buying seiko for many years-they r reasonably priced-excellent quality for the price weather it b men or womens timers-great value for the money-this is a pic of one of my favorites-does all except toast & eggs over easy!!!!.....

I don''t own a Seiko, but I know they inspire much devotion and are well regarded. I agree with the other poster who said, nice looking watch! You probably will be pleased with Seiko.

You also might want to look at Bulovas. They are in the same price range, and same quality range. They have 3 lines from lowest to highest, Caravelle, Bulova, and Accutron(their high-end Swiss movement line). I''ve had a Bulova Marine Star for almost 20 years, and it''s been a really good watch. I also own a lovely Accutron Masella.

I''ve had my Seiko for 5 years, and I still love it. Despite daily, nonstop wear, the crystal is still in perfect condition (absolutely no scratches), and I know I''ve knocked it about quite a few times! Also, the water resistance is rated to 5 bar (which I think is 50 meters), and every summer, I wear it while swimming laps, and it''s always held up fine.

I''m a big fan of mother-of-pearl faces, so I love the two models you chose, especially the SDX691. I think the pink mother-of-pearl will be especially pretty!
